Seriously, Bob if you know the answer, which you probably do, hold off for a while, but if it doesn't look good, give them a hint. Just to refresh the questions for everyone: Who made this? Was this car a production model? What year is it? Model?
I can't believe it. I actually hit 100 posts. That may seem small to you all with more than 1000, but it is still something for me.
The engine in the GMC is a 702 CID V12...It was two 351s mated end to end..At first I thought they must have had a torque converter between the two cranks to take up the difference in balance...But it appears the block was one big casting with one single crankshaft...But I could be wrong..I have always wanted one to make a Doodlebug....(homemade tractor)......Man !!! what a stump puller it would be....Al..

Yes, you weren't the first to ID it as a 702, but you were the first on here with the doodlebug idea. It would make a heck of a doodlebug. But ours is being turned into a sleeper road tractor. The site about them is linked to on the previous page. What they did was have two 351 blocks sit end to end, then made a single casting from that. I think it is one long crank, but the thing does have four heads, two carbs, two intakes. It's a real bit** to tune, time, etc, and requires hellatious batteries to crank.Quote:

I noticed your absence. I didn't intend to make any enemies on here. Sorry if I offended you. I do not intentionally change the rules and play favs. BTW, if you think I was playing favs, who was my fav then? As for polite ways of saying people are wrong, and the presence of both polite and impolite, that is due to a couple of things. Lately I've been dicking with my meds again to see if I could get to proforming better in school. All it has done is left me with a trembling hand and a bad tude. Read some of my earlier posts. Are you sure? I'm getting tired of this thread. The wagon is supposed to be a Villager. It is a conversion, since in that year, two door Villagers were not produced. Clear that by Bob first cuz I'm not 100% on it.Quote:

The wagon certainly has '60 Edsel grille and tailgate/taillights. Ford did make a two door wagon, and conversion to Edsel pieces would be pretty easy. I don't have any personal memory of the '60 Edsel, because I had about as much interest in them as the rest of the market.;) I know the '60 convertibles have been controversial because of fakes being made, though there were 76 made by the factory. Villager was the model name for the Edsel wagons. Production figures only show 4 doors being produced, but ......................?

And just to give you more fun.........................here's how things might have been.
Looks like the Comet was originally planned to be an Edsel rather than a Mercury. Once it became clear that the Edsel was dying, they must have made the switch.
Here's a straight on shot of the grille where you can see the Edsel badge. Can you imagine the whizzin' contest with Pontiac over who came up with the grille style first?
