I finally get out side and get a chance to do something productive and I end up right back on here !!! any way this happened today ;) I was cleaning out my 51 , Striping all the old bating & 4! old seat covers "all with hog rings!" getting them ready for blasting tomorrow.,,,,While cleaning up, I find a 1944 mercury dime!!!!" For any coin buffs "My wife is" it is in almost mint condition, You can see the braid and feathers. I don't know what that is? I don't care !.I just think its really cool, I just thought I'd share that. :grin: What have you guys and girls ("ladies") found????????????

I found a moldy condom box.

spent my dime on a 68 Cyclone fast back W/ 302 HO. 4V W/ 3 on d tree and only 28,000 miles. Beats smellin a moldy old box !

Whilst taking out the interior of my '71 P6 last month to make some floor repairs, i found a perfectly preserved fish in a cavity under the passenger seat, all dried out!
I estimate it must have been there for at least ten years, as it would have been discovered when repairs were made to the floor in that area a decade ago.
The car always did have a bit of an odd smell, but as soon as i disturbed it there was a seriously funky smell that im still trying to get rid of. One of the previous owners must have rubbed someone up the wrong way at some stage.... the car must have seriously reeked after a couple of weeks!!

Road kill cat on top of the intake manifold in the summer time is a sure way of getting even with that one person who rubbed ya the wrong way. especially when they arn't a gear head! What I would have gave to be a fly on the headliner in that car after a week!!:LOL: :LOL: :LOL:

Cut a quarter panel skin off and found a 30.06, live round, down by the inner rocker. Glad it didn't get hit in the cutting!

Got pulled over in south Texas and as the police were searching the car being real "nice" guys, one of em got bit by a rat, while diggin in the trunk. Needless to say they where in a hurry to get him to the neerest tetnus shot and let us go without another word.

while taking the dash off the ltd, i came across a sheet with all the specs of the car and the options on it. it's been in there for a good long time and is very fragile. very cool stuff to know what options i got:3dSMILE:

road kill cats , naw what you really want to do is to put some fresh garlic cloves down the defroster tubes in the dash at the windshield. They are guarenteed to keep on giving for months and months. Think about it where would you look for that smell ?

Best I have done was while stripping the interior of my 34 Plymouth I happened to find a Detroit police badge. I turned it into the local 50's and to my suprise (and horror) it had once belonged to a famous gangster of the early 30's (well at least it had been a souvineer from one of his "hits"). Later found out that the car had belonged to this infamous US citizen before being imported to New Zealand in the 1950's. Wound up selling the car to a local musem here in NZ for a pretty few dollars, given that it had once been al capones ride!

In my current beater, an '85 240 Volvo, I found $17.13 in CHANGE when I removed the carpets for cleaning.

Better yet...when I removed the fuel level sender, I found six tampons in the fuel tank, with their respective wrappers...still sealed.

The ability to find stuff just kind of runs in the family. A great uncle of mine bought a wrecked panel truck in the 50s. Turns out it was a guy's work truck, and when it flipped, all his tools got stuck in the roof supports. He cut the roof off and made his money back in the tools he found. As for what I've found it depends on the car. I regularly drive around the countryside looking for parts, and on one expedition I struck gold. My uncle had been searching for a particular 1960 GMC B model for 20 years, and I just happened to find it. We bought a wrecked truck that had a case of 22 rimfire bullets open on impact. Apart from finding 20-30 on the floor, you knock on the dash or seat and look to the floor and you will find a few. I have gone to work on old abandoned projects and found tools that were new and went missing 30 years ago. I went trampling through the woods on the family estate, and found no less than 10 Porsche 914s I had never seen before, and 5 no one remembered we had. Bought a 1972 Suburban and found a bunch of tools and parts in it. Unfortunately the previous owner reclaimed the tools, but at least we got a good Corvair Monza with the deal. I have gone searching through old cars and found parts no one knew we had. I'm sure when I start disassembling my Nash LaFayette I'll find some good stuff, as a cursory search already turned up some missing parts. My cousin went looking around the 914s and found enought spare parts inside of them to nearly put together a new one. But no, I haven't found any dead folks in trunks or things of exceeding value, just a bunch of interesting stuff, apart from that 1933 double eagle gold piece I found in an old Buick. :LOL: :rolleyes: :LOL: I have found an assortment of old coins in the cars I have worked on. Including the antique pennies left as date markers. It appears when a car was parked on the lot, a shiny new penny of that year was left somewhere in or on the car. An iteresting habit I carry on today. Makes for a good refrence when trying to remember just when that car came in.

True, Streets, times do change. Also money decomposes and has a mysterious way of disappearing soon after it is placed there. At least with pennies they seem to stay just where they were left. We had vandals come through and bust the glass out of all the Fairlanes, most of the Corvairs and Corvans, the Edsels, an old Willys Overland explorer. The interiors are now shot. We even found the people who did it. The law wouldn't touch them. That glass had been there for 30 years with those cars. People used to be more considerate. Yep, times do change. That is why I only use pennies and try to park the cars closer to the house.
