I'm looking for information about The Rod Shop. The web site is streetrodz.com. Anyone have information about their bodies and chassis. The web page looks like they have a very promising product, but I would like some first hand comments. Any information would be most helpful.

UNSTABLE
I BOUGHT THE ROD SHOP 34 CPE AND CHASSIS.IT WAS SET UP FOR A SBC AND 700R4.THE PROBLEMS I HAD WERE THE TRANNY COOLING LINES HIT THE FLOOR AND I HAD TO CUT AND RE STRUCTURE. THE TRANNY MOUNT WAS CLOSE(1/2 IN PER. SIDE) TO THE UNIVERSAL COMING OUT OF THE TRANNY. GAS TANK MOUNTING HOLES DID NOT ALIGN AND THE TANK HAD TO BE ALTERED. THE GAS TANK INTERFERED WITH THE BACK PANEL COVERING THE TANK. THE HOOD AND RADIATOR WAS A PAIN TO FIT AND STILL HAS A 1/4 IN. SPACE. THE PASSENGER SIDE FENDER WAS LAID TO THIN AND I HAD TO ADD BRACING.WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE GRILL SHELL TO GRILL INSERT FIT. I APPROACHED JOHN AND GARY AND THE ONLY HELP I GOT WAS WELL DON THIS IS NOT A KIT AND YOU JUST HAVE TO ENGINEER YOUR WAY THROUGH IT.BEING A RETIRED ENGINEER I GOT TO WORK.I WAS PLEASED WITH THE BODY QUALITY AND THE FIT OF THE DOORS AND TRUNK.I THOUGHT THEY MIGHT REPLACE THE THIN FENDER BUT THE ANSWER WAS NO.IF I WERE BUYING ANOTHER CAR FROM THE ROD SHOP I WOULD PERSONALLY GO CHECK IT OUT BEFORE ACCEPTING IT.ONCE YOU PAY IT'S HARD TO GET ANY THING REPLACED FROM SOME COMPANIES.THE CAR IS JUST FINISHED YOU MIGHT CHECK IT OUT.

That reminds me of years gone by.
In the 60's there was a speed/machine shop here in Columbus named,THE ROD SHOP. Well the story here was similiar to there,,,and thus the re-nameing on the street,,,THE ROB SHOP!
But having said that let me add,the other 'big name' speed shop here used to have a machine shop also. Their reputation was not real good,,,,I couldn't understand that,,,after all,they were ----,the big name in drag racing.
Well I took a set of heads to them to be worked on(3 angle valve job and more),paid $400 back then in the 70's.Got the heads home and looked them over and found one of the o-rings pinched between the keepers and sticking up in plain view! They havn't done machine work for a number of years now,,,and I wonder why??? But they do still sell many millions in parts.
Gentlemen,,,what ever went with the 'service with a smile' and doing the customer better than he expected??? Is it a lost art in this country,gone with the WWII generation???

What these companies don't realize is that people TALK, just like what happened here. They may have thought they only blew one customer off, but I wonder how many they lose through it?

There is an old adage in business. "If you please a customer, he will tell another person. If you P.O, a customer, he will tell FIVE people."

Don just had the pleasure of telling a lot more than five about his experience. Word of mouth is SO important.

If it were me I'd look elsewhere. A few years back I called the Rod Shop about buying one of there 32 rollers they seemed like really good people to talk to and offered alot of info. I called them back a few days later to set up an appointment to go look at there cars (I'm only about 40 miles away) but it seemed they didn't want me to come up , they gave me all types of excuses like the boss wasn't there or he was outside and to busy to come to the phone and that he would call me back , but I never heard from him.

I'm glad he never called because I ended up buying a 32 roller from H.B. Classics and I'm really pleased with the car. If your in the market for a nice car at a good price give H.B Classics a call or contact N & N fiberglass you won't be sorry.
