'47, '48, or '49 Cadillac
Hi guys,
This is my first post and will be my first rod :).
I'm looking at building 1947-1949 Cadillac (2dr coupe fastback).
However, I want to make a driveable car out of it, and I will be using a new engine.
My biggest concern is about the suspension. Do any of you know if there are any aftermarket chassis for these cars? I don't want the thing to drive like a boat. I'm not worried about the weight of the engine, but I'd like to make it as nimble as possible.
The only thing I've been able to come up with is that someone used the chassis of a 1979 cadillac for a rebuild of a '49. I don't care that any of it is original, but I am new to old cars and want to make it as bolt-on as possible. if I don't have to stretch the frame or anything other than drilling holes and working out the exhaust situation, that would really be ideal.
Money is a factor, but I'm not going to go nuts on the engine or interior so frame & body are my biggest concerns.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? This doesn't seem to be the most popular rod, but I think it has the right look if you trim it down.
I just don't know how nimble it will be. I'm new to old cars, so perhaps I have unreal expectations?
*edit* my god, I am an idiot. How do I get the years wrong? 47-49 is a lot different :)
