Geeze I was wondering what happened, at first I just thought it was my crappy computer then I figured the server wen't down. Ay Denny, I am getting Cable tomarrow for the net so no more sloooow 56K modem.:) And getting digital television, :D I think I may just go out and buy a new computer too.
The inconvenience on this end was for sure nothing like you
went through Brent. One trait a Geezer has is patience.
Thanks for your efforts.
*cough*windowscrap*cough* Good to see its running again though. I just hope streets can make 80 posts between now and tomorrow:LOL::LOL:
Streets, I was aware of the problem almost immediately, but maybe the other forums have paid full time administrators (feel free to put me on your payroll) or they are already rich and don't work, or well, they don't have a career outside of making a place for you to lose 80 posts. Either way, I was thinking only of trying to make you happy when I was fixing stuff.
hmmm, yes I was wondering what was going on when I tried to load up earlier. It,s interesting to see that CHR runs on a shoestring budget, it's results show a far greater commitment.
Thanks Brent; for keeping my favorite site running with the Big Dogs. We have all had problems with our own computers, So we understand. Thanks for all you do to keep this site up and running.
Sincerly, Kurt W. Vara

I just finally caught on to the server being down,,,i thought someone was yanking my chain,,cos my post's where disappearing almost as fast as i was posting.
Glad to see the problem resolved now.
Get a UPS power supply for the server.
Anyhow,,,Good luck,,,and Keep it on the shiny side up.:D
Yeah, thought it was my computer, too. Great job getting it back and running. Thanks for the board, and the efforts. This place is great. I'm just sorry I didn't save the "Geezers Rule" string. Good jokes. Oh well, I'm sure it will be back.
Matt
Thanks for getting the site back up, I missed it! I thought maybe a disk had crashed but I should have known the winter weather had something to do with it. This reminds me of my first PC which was an XT; it had a bad disk drive but I found that if I wedged a pack of matches under one edge it would run OK on a different part of the bearing and I got another year out of that disk!

I second that Southerner! This is the BEST forum out there...it attracts the BEST people...and there isn't a bunch of trash talk. It's one of the ONLY places on the net that (as a female in a predominately male occupied hobby) that I feel like I can for the most part participate safely! CHR RULES!!!! Kudos Brent & Bill!!!! :whacked:Quote:

 Thank God, that I had my back-up computer.......all I had to do was power-up my other Lap Top, by turning it upside down.......and shakeing it, until all the silver stuff covered the screen. Then I was back in bussiness. My Etch-a-Sketch has paid for itself many times.:3dSMILE:
I shoulda known!!! HEHEHEHEHEHE    :LOL:Quote:

Ok, i have to know. How exactly does a message board about the server crashing resort to a conversation about cheeze? Oh, and Dhotrod, i have a 486 if your that hurting for a backup machine. I even put a dx2 overdrive processor in it so it runs at a whopping 132 mhz!:LOL:
Thanks for the offer.........but, my Etch-a-Sketch, is way beyond that.Quote:

CHEESE..........It's life....it's in the blood of all true hotrodders, it attracts 'chicks' like a magnet

The only (feeble) connection I can make is that the downtime was probably caused by the same snow they are cleaning off of Lambeau Field for the game between the Cheeseheads and the Hornyheads. Since even the Redskins beat the Hornyheads, the Cheeseheads should win? drg84 that is a funny cartoon, the best since Treekiller's "bunny" picture; the one with the pancakes on it's head! Occasional nonsense can be humorous, BUT what about that guy who wanted an engine block made out of Platinum so he could use liquid oxygen instead of nitrous oxide? Anyway this great Forum apparently runs on a shoestring? Does not the advertising pay enough for a backup PC with a large hard disk? Today one can get an enormous size disk for a relatively low price. Still last year my house went without power for nine days and I dread an ice storm this year, so maybe what is really needed is an auxilliary power supply (from HONDA?).
