shaved cowl

Hey guys I am going to get started on shaving my cowl on my 66 442. I believe I know how to tackle this project but I was wondering if some knows of a like or can tell me how to do it. I have already shaved my bumpers and my antenna.

im talking about the rain gutter in front of your front window maybe im using the wrong words so please see the attached picture.

Isn't that also the air intake to the heater system? If you fill it in, then turn on the heater, it'll turn your car inside out . . . :LOL:

Stumpy, usually when shaving a part of a car body you are removing something. I'm not sure what you mean by shaving the cowl. Do you mean that you are going to fill it in so it is solid? If that is case, then you are "filling" or "molding" in the cowl vent.

And Henry is right, the cowl vent is the intake for ventilation for your passenger compartment, not just a rain gutter. Do you have an alternate plan for air flow? Just something to consider before you do it. I watch them fill the cowl vent on Lance Armstrongs GTO in Overhaulin the other day. They just welded a panel in where the vent used to be and smoothed it out. They also installed Vintage Air and his is a convertible so that was their plan for air flow I guess. Rain gutters or drip rails usuaually refers to the edges around the tops of the doors or windows to keep water from dripping into the car when the door opens.

I don't see the problem with welding up the cowl vent if he wont's to. All that water that runs down into the cowl has to get out somewhere. the only problem I see is getting to the windshield wipers trans and linkage. you can close off the outside air vent on most any car if you wont to from inside the car. :D
