53 studebaker2 door coupe

I see you Studebaker guys are always pretty active in the club so I thought I would tell you about a friends from Richmond,Va.He is a mechinist by trade who has run a successful one horse body shop for over 20 years. One of the best chassis men around here in stock car racing. He has helped a lot of guys along the way. When he decided he wanted to build a 53 coupe,several people that he had helped started to contribute things to help him. He was given a trans am rear with posi and disc brakes. He was given front end parts, atl fuel cell, rack and pinion steering and I contributed a mild 355 chev engine , ( one like we were discussing about small blocks a few days ago.It is one of the prettest Studebakers I have ever seen. ANYWAY.----He sent in pictures to Rod and Custom Magazine back in the summer. He was selected to come to California to participate in EAGO RAMA 2004.He drove the car out there and back by himself,made the finals,won a couple events and he will be shown in the april 2005 issue which should be out in feb. You might want to look for it. The car is oyster pearl white with dark blue velour interior 17 inch wheels.If I told you how much he has in the car ,you would be totally shocked. Many of you have much more in you motor alone.There is a Studebaker Magazine that you guys proberly suscribe to but I can't think of the name. I have one here somewhere. There is a company in Tennessee that sells a bolt in front end kit. He designed this kit and his car is pictured in the add. Good deeds always return to you. Last week we had lunch and he informed me that as soon is i finished the chassis that he would do all the body and paint work for me.That'al Work!

My first car was my favorite car in the whole world, a '53 Stude.
I drove it to high school in San Pedro Calif. in '64. I wish I still
had that car....a Cal. cream-puff without a dent, or a spec of rust.

I Just ..found that Studebaker magazine, its called Turning Wheels. The car is pictured on page 34 of the Nov 2003 issue. It may be in every issue ,I don't know. The car had Corvette wheels on it back then. I failed to tell you it gets aqbout 22 mpg on the road. It turned 14:59-----97 miles per hr. in the quarter in California with a 323 rear .

Thanks for the info on that great '53. I have seen the picture with the front end ads in Turning wheels and always wondered about it. Nice to be able to put info to the picture. I'm a '53 Studebaker guy myself, you can see mine by clicking on the camera next to my name.

Stu cool. I certainly don't know everything about cars but I know a lot less about computers .I did find you pictures and think you have some nice cars.Turning Wheels seems to be a good mag and looking at the sale adds I was suprised .It looks like you can pick up a studebaker at a fairly reasonable price.

Turning Wheels is the official magazine of the Studebaker Drivers Club.
There are over 15,000 members worldwide, and now that the internet has come of age, a lot of them know each other now.

Congrats on the Egorama thing. I read that with interest.

The SDC is a neat club, and has a section / faction devoted to rods, customs, and performance.

Deepnhock, Herman and I had lunch yesterday. we met at a new Rod& Custom shop in Richmond that some friends of mine work for. It is called Paradise Road Rod and Custom. That place is really nice and you can eat of the floor in the shop. They seem to be catering more to the street rodder than the all out racer and proberly very few round track guys will go there. They also have a tuner side as well. Stuck my head in the door.that was enough for me. There shop was loaded ,they were doing a frame off on a early 60's corvette ,63or 4 plymouth looked like it had just had the body sand blasted or dipped , a very strong looking tubbedup 55 chev. and several other nice projects. They had never seen the Studebaker,but they all seemed to be quite impressed. I told Herman that I had talked to you guys about him and his car on the forum.He said he would be glad to bring me some pictures if you guys were interested.Im sure he would be pleased if you wanted to do an article on his car.Well its almost Christmas .We had about 20 people over from Church tonight and I still,as usual ,am not ready . Merry Christmas to every one of you and your familys.

I am looking at the new Chrysler plug and play Hemi. Different than the standard sbc that most use and you can get it in a efi or carb version with all the electrical hook up needed for a rod project like mine.

Even the Stude purists come over and look under the hood when a Hemi is stuffed in a Stude. Popular conversion. A new one would be neat to see.
