Question about old trucks

Matt167, I read through previous postings that you were looking at a crate 350, possibly from Pepboys. I went that route and recommend that you don't. After 35,000 miles I am starting to have to basically start rebuilding it.
I purchased everything from Pepboys; carb, intake, heads, headers, etc. Carb is bad, valves clattering, engine missing, water pump went out, etc.
I suggest get a crate engine from a magazine that specializes in your auto; i.e., chevy, ford, etc.
Streets, good advice to our friend I've noticed. Maybe you can answer some of my questions sometime!

By the way, Streets, I read your reply to the poster asking about "305 question" and bearing tolerances. I wanted to add that I did not realize I did not add my vehicle description. It is a 1985 Chevy Silverado short wheel base with a 350 engine/tranny painted metallic grey.
AND, I agree the reponse to techies statement by that "gentleman" was harsh.

I Was just stateing that the old 50 's truck are bring a pretty good chunk of change still it dose'nt matter if there a 1/2 ton or 2 ton you got to search the market . the cheapest 2 ton short nose I found so far he wanted $3,000 for it and it was a rust bucket sorry if it sounded like I was dumping on you

Yeah it DID sound like you were dumping on me and I don't appreciate that!!! Haha just messing with ya. Like I said I could be wrong. But either way I still love those trucks... not as much as a 33 Chevy truck. :)

The truck itself isn't bad it's just the wooden box it has is all rotted out well, the sides are spreading outward from the junk in it, the frame I'm not shure of it's condition but I suspect it's good. By the cab, I mean the cab and the front section ( fenders and hood ) has no visible rust and the glass is all good. Everythings there and in good condition. I'm not gonna bother even trying to get it until the '51 is done but, it will be there when/ if I want it if i'm ready to get it.

Hey streets, if your running scrap, Ive got a KZ750 that may be heading that way soon. How much to pick it up?:LOL:

what happen drg84 your creative adaptation of a spark module from a 2.3 efi didn't work to well did it Oh well you tried better luck next time :LOL: :LOL: :LOL:
