It may not be a hot rod but its still interesting

Well I finally got to a site that would decrease the size of my photo's and that's on Yahoo Photo.
Well anyway I finally attached a picture of my own personel cruszer. Its a 1942 Dodge Black four Door sedan (A friend of mine call it a supper market lead slead). It is a very rare car as it was produced after the second world war started and was only sold to people who could help the war effort out. This paticular car was sold to a farmer, who by the way only lives about a mile from me. I have run into people who remember this car when they were in grammar school in the earlly 50's.

The car it self is powered by a wopping sraight 6 with about 90 horse power and a Taxable horse power of 25.35. To get all this power down to the road it has a Fluid Drive automatic and a three speed transmission. I think it might do the quarter mile in about 10 minutes or so. But this is an old machine and I don't beat it all and if I tried it wouldn't do anything anyway.

I left the interior alone because it still is in fair condition and I didn't want to have a car that didn't show its own charater.

I do love hot-rods but this is a historical car and I just couldn't cut and tear at it just to say its mine. Its really not mine I'm only a caretaker of it and thats the way I feel about this old dodge.

As much as I love hotrods, I also love and respect restorations. My '51 Chevy is now 90% stock with only a glasspack muffler being non stock, it is also almost compleatly unrestored other than most bodywork, floors and brakework, the floors and brake work was done b4 I got it and is for the most part, drivable( not leagelly yet ) anyway, It's a Fleetline Deluxe 4dr sedan w/ powerglide automatic and a 235 str8 6 and it will stay that way for as long as I own it, the reason is, from what I can gather, not many of the 4dr fleetlines were produced in '51 and I have yet to find another 4dr Fleetline powerglide car made in '51 other than mine so, It has to be somewhat rare so, instead of compleatly rod it, I'm going to modify the motor with era correct parts like fenton cast iron headders, offy 3 carb intake and for exzaust, smithys mufflers and eco can tips. Wheels and tires, stock bias ply 4" whitewalls running on original steel rims but with moon caps instead of the original hubcaps. Paint and interior will be a medium dark purple ( paint ) single stage and, interior will be purple and white vinal with the V8 pattern that seperates the 2 colors. With my plan, I'm getting the best of both worlds, hotrod and restoration but more of a '50s and '60s era correct hotrod.

Sounds like an awosome car you got there man. I would leave it all original as well. Don't let Boyd Cottington (sp) from American Hot Rod get ahold of it, he will chop the hell out of it and ruin the history of the car and everything. :)

Sounds like a big solid project. I agree with the guys above me. Rebuild, restore and drive. Nothing grabs attention like a odd or old car perfectly restored:)

Cool looking car! Was that pic taken on a covered bridge? For some reason I expected it to be "black" ha ha! Would love to see some more detailed pics of interior etc. if you have time! Have Fun! :)
