    John Norton aka johnboy

About a month ago John's son Rick shared that his dad had been hospitalized with a lung infection that they couldn't knock, and that while in the hospital he started showing signs of increasing dementia. The lung infection cleared, but the dementia remained. About a week ago John suffered a stroke and has now been moved to a nursing care facility. Rick said this morning that he's basically been non-communicative since the move, and seems to have lost the ability to reply, but does give an occasional sigh or grunt to things said to him. Hoping for the best, but John isn't doing well right now.

Sounds like he's having a bad go of it, hope he responds soon.

Son Rick messaged me just now that John/johnboy passed away "...this morning, July 4th". Rest in Peace John. I'm glad to have known you, and to have had the pleasure of showing you around the Heartland USA back in 2014! You'll be missed by many.

That’s something I didn’t wanna read. I was lucky enough to meet him and his wife when they traveled Route 66, don’t remember the year. I just remembered meeting him at Ted Drew’s custard stand along route 66 in St. Louis. Rest in peace my friend. Save us all a seat…… joe

    RIP Johnboy !!
he was a good bugger and certainly lived a hard and varied life and some of his battles with "authority" were legendary.
i was lucky to receive his monthly diaries for years , which described everything he did each day, an crikey he certainly did alot!
Will be missed in "Maverick" and NSRA (new zealand) circles.

RIP Johnboy, another good one gone. I'll miss the monthly diary and your dry wit.

Sad indeed, I'll surely miss the down under humor he cracked us up with for so many years.
    Condolence to his folks.

Rick messaged that his dad's service will be Wednesday, July 9th at 10:30am NZ Standard Time, which is Tuesday, July 8th at 5:30pm CDT. The LiveStream Link will be active ten minutes before, if you care to see the Tribute to John/johnboy Norton - https://www.eagars.co.nz/funerals?funeral=dBmeb

I saw last night on fb about John. The world sure lost a great one. I'm going to miss his humor, advice, and perspective from another portion of the world. Rest in Peace Johnboy.

John's ride to the cemetery, his beloved Billings OK bus, The Baby Elephant!! Traveling in style!! As his service was starting I couldn't figure out what the music was, heavy on a flute in a jaunty tune. Then I realized it was the score from Disney's "Baby Elephant Walk", which John had on the back doors of the bus! He loved that bus, and also the fact that his battle with the bureaucrats over getting his plans approved was on a TV News show, like out "Call For Action" or the like, which resulted in his plans being approved post haste! He was known for "sticking it to the authorities" with his logical arguments. You'll be missed, JB.
