    Wannabe types.
Living in a small rural area everybody knows everybody.
I was in the local bar one evening having a quiet beer with my mates and one of the locals (not a friend,) came bursting in, headed straight for me and said: "I'm one of you fellas now!"
    What?
"Yep. I've got an American car. I'm now a hot-rodder!"
    Oh. What is it?
    "I dunno. It's blue."

    Bloody drongo.

I shook my head and turned my back on him.

Actually it was. It was a completely stock '55 Chev...very tidy.

But it most certainly wasn't a HOT ROD!

And he wasn't 'one of us.'

(He's a retired school teacher...I rest my case...)

What? You mean to tell me true hot rods weren't built with circular saw blades for steering wheels, chains welded together for steering arms, and hog feeder lids for hubcaps?

I didn't know the clown, but how about a T cowl & windshield with an old manure spreader for the body and old toilet seats for the interior? And those were the good parts!

Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.
