Flooding

I sure hope that those of you, and your families, that live in flood prone areas are safe and sound. It rained so hard here yesterday I was beginning to wonder if I was back in the Philippines. I don't know what the total rainfall has been this year but it seems as though it's higher than the last couple of years combined.

Ken, I guess you could come up here to Truman Lake and see some serious flooding, or just stay there the lake might be coming to you, up from 56,000 acres to 220,000 acres I heard (yes actual figures)

Thanks, but no thanks. I'm on high ground and I think I'll stay put for the time being.I don't know which will get to me first, Truman or Stockton.

High ground here. Hundred year flood plain, and on the near top of a dam big hill. Six inches of standing water in the back yard and a flooded septic tank is and ever will be the worst of my rain woes. Sincere heartfelt sympathy for those in the valleys. That said, if you've been flooded out repeatedly, consider moving to higher ground.

Guys are finally starting to plant a little bit of corn around here, it's about a month later than usual due to the flooding and rain. We drove back from Florida last week, and the Missouri and Mississippi River areas are a mess. Houses is still surrounded by water and grain bins ripped open from the floating ice earlier this spring.

We have about 6-8ft before it comes over the levee's near me. BUT, I highly doubt we'd flood because of the Monsanto/Solutia/Kodak/Bayer plant or whoever owns it now just down the road. In 1993 they breached a levee south of us. From what I hear they're ready to do the same thing this time if it gets too high...

Luckily we haven't had significant rain up here for 5 or more days...... My cousin who lives in Bay City Texas posted on FB videos of her neighborhood flooded the other day. They had 10" of rain in a 24hr period. The water was already up to her garage and not too far from her house. The rain seems to be crazy all over this year.

And Firebird, I don't think the Army Core of Engineers will use the term 100 year flood plane here any more. So many of those have been flooded over they are calling them 5 to 10 year flood plains.

Deluxe, we have finally GOTTEN some rain. More coming in the next few days. It's funny how some have too much, others none.
