Luck of the Irish
I decided to drive the 37 yesterday. When I pulled it outside to warm up a bit I realized I had lost the right side front hub cap the last time I drove it……great. I’d had a heck of a time finding hub caps I liked for the truck and had actually ended up over paying for a set off E Bay.
I figured what the heck I remembered where I had gone the last time I drove it so I figured I'd drive that way and see if it was sitting alongside the road somewhere…….like that’s ever worked.
I just made a turn onto the second road and the phone rang….it was my daughter and I figured I’d better answer it. I pulled over to the side and shut the truck down. The reception was crappy so I got out of the truck and walked around to the passengers’ side so the signal would stop breaking up. As I was talking to her I happened to glance down and there 10 feet from where I parked was my hub cap. It had rolled behind a bush where I wouldn’t have seen while driving down the road.
And yes I will take bind dumb luck any day. Decided not to buy lottery ticket …. figured I’d already used up my luck for a while.:LOL:

Great story! Things happen for a reason.

I agree, GREAT STORY!
I think maybe Santa just gave you a visit! 8-)

Nice! Hopefully you can make it fit a little better so it stays on next time.

The Gods were smiling on you alright!
Nice one!
When we put the Jaguar rims on the '47 the original hubcaps didn't even come close to fitting. So I bodgied them about a bit, screwed three large-headed self-tapping screws into the rim. and got a better fit. Not perfect; but better.
Then I lost another one.
Bugger!
So put a dab of silicone over the head of each screw.
That would be ten/twelve years and 70,000 miles ago.
I haven't lost one since.
But...I now have to carry a box knife in my tool kit to release them.
A small price to pay.

That all sounds familiar Johnboy.
I did a variation of the screw trick when I built my 57 Dodge so I could use a set of original 57 Dog Dish caps on the set of 70s Chrysler "Road Wheels" I was running. I also use a dab of silicone on the cheap set of derby caps I run on the Corvette rallys on the 83 El Camino and the center caps on Donnas' 84 El Camino.
Steve the caps on the 37 actually fit really tight.......when they are properly seated. I'd had the wheel off just before I drove it the time before last and apparently didn't get it fully seated.

It is crazy how things work out some times. That's a real good deal though!
