    Chip the mighty hunter

I don't know how this 12 ish yr old beagle pulled this off, whether he found road kill or he actually caught this thing. He was super proud of it either way

Now THAT's BAD! A few weeks ago, one of the first days above 60F Bones came to the door after being sprayed in the face. Thankfully he stopped when I told him to, and was sent back outside while I mixed up a batch of Uncle Jerry Baker's Skunk Remedy

OH! That is BAD! I've had it happen a couple times. It's never any fun at all. But I've never had a dog carry one into the house!

Not a lot bothers me and my stomach, but that was absolutely the worst smell I've ever encountered. ..it smelled nothing like you get when a skunk gets hit on the road...100 times worse!!.. looking back now i can laugh!

I'm glad you can laugh about it now.. The first time 1 of my dogs "got it" was when the wife was working with the post office. She started her day at 3 am, she would feed the dogs and then let them out to do their business around 3:30. Then she would open the door and they'd come running in and "my" dog would come upstairs to jump into bed with me.

Well as you can imagine, as soon as he hit the bed, I jumped up gagging and gasping for a breath of clean air. It was terrible! Eyes / throat burning.. I could see he was in as much pain as I. I got him into the shower and tried everything to no relief. 24 hours later folks could still smell skunk when I was around. The wife got some solution and it helped a lot.. but not completely! If it ever happens again like that, I'm going to a hotel! LOL..

An aunt & uncle lived in Plainview, TX and getting up in years didn't put a lot of miles on their car and it spent most of it's time in the garage, which in the summer was closed up and HOT! On their way home one spring day they ran over a freshly killed skunk, and the underside of the car really got sprayed. Long story short, they tried everything they could think of, but by July they decided it was time to trade cars The smell in the garage was just too much for them.

I used to shoot skunks when they were around my house, after I wounded one and he ran into my split fire wood pile, I've decided to let them live from now on.

Critters and their trophies. Our dogs never brought us anything of any import, and fortunately, never got close enough to a skunk to be a bother. The cats, on the other hand ----- rats, rabbits, birds, lots of birds, snakes, lizards, and on and on. In the early sixties, I had a '57 Chevy that had been in a head on, and rebuilt. It didn't have a grille in the shark mouth, just the big oval maw. One night I hit a skunk as it jumped off of an embankment, and it lodged in that opening, and drained it's tank. I had the heater going full blast - it was freezing foggy out - and the vapors swirled up into the interior vent intakes behind the headlights. It was worse than getting smoked with tear gas or CS. The smell lingered in that car until the day I traded it in on a new one.
