Something on my bucket list is going well so far

Something on my bucket list is going well, become a mom.I am in the process of adopting a 14 year old boy,so far he is liking me very well and his dream is going to become true. This boy has been in foster homes in his life and wants to be in a forever home. One thing he likes about me is my military service in the Marines.Him,he likes cars and he loves Chevy Camaros. Also a good kid and he has been keeping his grades up in school, told him keep this up.The foster mom he lives with now,she sees him having a great future with me.This has been the only option with me.I can't get pregnant,my reproductive system was not fully developed. The social worker I am working with says I am best with him so far.I love kids and hopefully sometime in June the adoption becomes final.

Good luck to you. I've got a 15 year old Grandson that I'm blessed to spend a good amount of time with. At that age they can be a great joy and a huge trail all that the same time.

WOW.....I love that, there are to many kids that need a full time home. You should be proud.
we have 16 grand kids and are expecting 2 more. What fun. Big problem is 5 are in Ks and 3 are in Fl. But with retiring that will give us more time to travel and out stay our welcome hahaha

I have him for the weekend and he loves my Camaro themed garage.Even shown him pictures of me when I was in the Marines. He seen a picture that is pretty much important in my life.It is a last picture of my bio dad and I.Asked me who that was,Told him that is my dad in heaven looking down and told him my dad was killed in the line of duty in 1993,was a police officer.Plus I have been there for him,he has been getting bullied and told him I went though it as well as a kid.Told him it was all because of my hair color, being a redhead.Taught him how to stand up for himself yesterday and has it down now.

Tell him to ball up his fist and walk up to whoever is bothering him and punch the kid SQUARELY IN THE NOSE, with NO WARNING. As soon as the blood starts squirting, the fight is over and that kid will never bother him again. We used to call it a sucker punch. Word will get around the school pretty quickly that your son is not to be fooled with. If he gets detention or gets expelled for it, you go with him down to the school superintendent's office and tell the superintendent that you told your son to do that and that you're tired of him getting picked on and that you expect it to come to a screeching halt. I did the same with my son when he was in Junior High School. Richie busted the kid's nose and got detention for it. I went down to the school and sat in detention with him because I told him to do it. You've got to let your children know that you will support them through thick and thin, no matter what happens. You don't necessarily have to be their friend, but you do have to let them know that you will support them and be a caring parent.

I did the same with my youngest, I told em if they start it, you finish it, you have my permission to get in trouble . Nothing ever came of it though.

I never was much good with my fists, so didn't have the skills to teach Richie how to fight. In his freshman year of high school, a fellow moved into the neighborhood with his two sons. The dad had been in the Marines and had been 7th Fleet boxing champ. He used to teach his sons in the front yard and so I encouraged Richie to hang around with the kids and maybe learn a little about fighting. Well, by the time he was a senior, he was 6'-2", weighed 200 lbs and had an 84" reach. He had turned into a formidable weapon and nobody messed with him.
