    Shed remodel, more room

Thought I'd give you guys a glimpse of what I'm doing in the shed right now. There is a 16 ft lean to on the side of the main shop and I'm removing the wall between them. I got my boy cleaning up the I beam that will support the roof and hopefully in a couple months I'll have more room than I know what to do with.

Ya, I know Right now it's 20x40 so it'll become 36x40. For most of this sheds life on my property It had a 53 Chevy turned sideways in the front so it left one stall to work on something else besides the 53. I'm I bit excited to finally be able to use the pit I put in on the other side, I figured on taking the wall out earlier than this.

When I converted the old feed store I'm using for a shop, I used an I beam at the roof line across the width of the shop to to eliminate the load bearing center post that holds the roof up. It didn't take me too long after that to install a trolley and 2 ton chain hoist.

I don't know how it would work with your layout but for me it was about the best thing I ever did to the shop. Especially working alone it sure beats the heck out of a cherry picker both from a ease and safety standpoint. Besides installing engines I've used it to pull pickup beds and even whole bodies during frame offs.

Believe me I would not have wanted to do these 2 swaps with a cherry picker especially working alone.

That will be very nice Seth! The old building I tore down before I put my shop up had an I-beam crane in it. That thing was the only thing holding the entire roof of the old building up. I sure do miss having it around too.

Very jealous of all that room, you can't have too much room or tools.

Thanks for the compliments on the shop guys, I used to be an old hog building. We got it for free, moved it ourselves and raised it 8 feet and added the lean too on both sides. Just to clarify any thinking, if I had to do it all over again I would have built a new one instead. But were here now
I got another 8 ft added onto the I beam today to make it 40 ft.I used what was left of the donor beam to keep everything straight and in check while I spliced it. We also got the electrical moved and the wall stripped of all it's flare. Now it's time to get the other side ready for the beam so I may have to kill the heat in the shed for awhile. As of right now I'm not quite sure how to raise up the beam to its position. My best plan so far it to use 2 skidloaders with the pallet forks turned upside down and set the beam on them to lift it up.

I braced up the rafters tonight and will hopefully yank the wall out this week so no more heat for a bit. After that I will put together some posts on the ends to support the I beam. The temp is supposed to drop again this weekend, they were talking 6 inches of snow with 30-40 mph winds and high a little below 0 . I just heard that they backed everything off now, a high of 10 and no snow, but still windy but still a lot better. Can you see what I used some of these boards for earlier this year

Got the insulation pulled and started pulling off the OSB. I was wrong about how high we lifted the shed, according to the splices it was raised about 5 ft.
