    Christmas traditions

My wife and I started out with an artificial tree when we first got together. After a few years it was getting a little ratty looking so we decided to start using a real tree. Cade was probably 4 or 5 at the time and it became a tradition that he would go with me to pick the tree out. When his Sister got a little older she started going with us.......if was really great to see them picking out the tree. Of course I had to explain to Elise every year that a 10' tree just would not work in a room with 7' ceilings. Eventually Austin was old enough to go too and for the last couple of years I'd take all 3 of them with me.

I realized last year that the kids (especially the older ones) didn't think that riding in Grandpa's truck to go pick out a Christmas tree was all that cool anymore. Even Austin was pretty much over it.

After talking to my wife we pretty much decided to go back to an artificial tree. Donna wasn't real impressed with the first one I brought home. She thought it was too small or something ......she wasn't real clear as to why she didn't like it but was pretty emphatic that she wanted something else.

Anyway not wanting Donna to be upset with me till New Years I went back to the store and picked up a bigger tree. I thought I'd surprise her and even put the lights on........and she was still grumpy !!!!!!

So anyway the latest thing is she says she seems to remember having more ornaments last year.......that one I'm just keeping quiet about

I liked the first one best. I think. Always loved that new cut tree aroma!

The second is nice 'cause the lights are already installed... but not much room underneath for the presents.

The 3rd seems the most fun tho'...

    Just sayin'.

My fiber optic tree has been in the shed for years.

I should dig it out and adorn it with my heirloom pop tab garland.

Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

When we were kids our parents got real trees every year until the cost started getting crazy. I don't think anyone missed the mess or hassle after we put the aroma device under the fake tree. I'll never forget I was 13 and we set up the tree, got the base secured in the stand. Gave it some water and feed, and Dad cut the wrap off it. My little brothers were setting on the couch. A dang old squirrel jumped out of that tree when Dad cut the wrap and bounced off my brother's lap and started skating around the walls. My brother pee'd a little that day minimum. I really want to take a mouse on a string to his house this year and attach it to the bottom of his tree and see what his reaction is now. (The same I bet) LMAO!

The mouse died before I got the chance. Our lab sniffed out the box I had on the deck. Destroyed the box and the mouse. No Christmas prank but I didn't get kicked out of their house so all is good?
