Now that's just plain ugly


They were just starting to get the corn and beans out of the fields in Ill where I was visiting a week and a half ago. The size of the current equipment is massive compared to what I remember dad using in the 60's.....a 2 row John Deere tractor mounted picker with a sheller attachment and a 57 Chevrolet 2 1/2 ton grain truck.

Of course back then Dad was farming 320 acres (the home place and a neighbors place he was renting) which was about average for the time. Now if you're farming less than 1200 acres is a small operation. I understand progress but I still find it a bit sad to see all the old family farms gone.
