that is all we took. hope you all enjoy the look around...........
Thanks for the pics. A little pricey on the dual quad set up. I bought a similar set, maybe not as shiny and complete, when I left California in 72 for $125.
Unless you were restoring to original $3500, IMHO, is awful pricey even if the valve covers are part of the deal. And I don't see the part tags on the carb's which if I remember correctly were mounted on the top left front corner of the air horn and would devalue them considerably to a purist. The valve covers appear to have staggered holes which means they'll only fit 55 through 57 heads, maybe 58, and I've seen them go for cheap at the swap meet here in Springfield recently and I've also seen clowns asking upwards of $150 a set and I just smile and walk away.
If I ever decided to run dual quads again I have an Offy manifold out in the garage and with a set of Holley's for less than a grand I'd be considerably ahead of that setup and since this isn't the "Hamb" period correct is out the window.
As far as I'm concerned $1800 would be top dollar for that setup including the orange box they're sitting on.
'52 Chevy. '68 GTO. '55 Chevy. '56 Olds. Sigh . . . did you HAVE to put photos all of my early hot rods in one post?
Seriously, thanks for the photos and the trip down memory lane. I wish I had gone. It's only a couple of hours from me.
Thanks for the pictures.
Thanks for posting your photo's Davy. I'm going to ask how to upload a photo out of the series to include in my reply as I have tried the copy and paste but it didn't work ?:( What I wanted to know was how well the intake on the '32 to '34 matt black pickup truck would work ? Adding an extra high box on top of a tunnel ram inlet just doesn't work in my brain and wondered if there was something I missed.

Well hit me in the head..... it did work.
Add up the prices for new parts from Summit, and toss in $100 to $150 for either repop or vintage 'vette valve covers on evilBay and you'll be in the $1600 to $1800 range. Or you can pay almost double for the unknown of somebody's old carbs sitting on an old manifold with unknown history? Yes, we've had inflation and it's 2016 but seriously? Then again it's a very, very nice orange box.....
IMO it will be a B#*%h to start, especially in cold weather. By the time you dump in enough fuel to bring that large volume of air in the elevated tunnel ram to a F/A ratio good for ignition you stand a good chance of flooding it, and if you flood it you'd better have a strong battery and starter to be able to crank it enough to lean out the huge F/A charge that's saturated in the intake. It's for looks only, IMO.Quote:
