This would be your NSRA-NZ Nationals weekend, right? Where is it held this year? You say "Goin' East", so that leads me to think North Island, over towards the coast? Best regards to Colin, Sharpie, Coxy & Lynne, Gary & Elaine Pulley, and others I'm sure I'm forgetting.
Have a great time!
Yep; NZ NSRA Nationals at Dannevirke this year...our fortieth.
We still don't know if we'll be there or not; She had a bit of a 'medical misadventure' which has landed her in hospital.
Extremely serious (think fatal,) if not caught; but this was caught.
Haemoglobin levels usually hover around 84. Under 80 is serious. She's levels fell to 71. So it's serious.
Into hospital, pumped full of blood, antibiotics and all sorts of other stuff.
She's out now...but we're going to see how She feels to-morrow. As Roger can attest; our Nationals can get a bit, well, exuberant.
So dependant upon her condition...
(...and if we do go there'll be no dancing on the tables!)
So sorry to hear that Rosie's been ailing! I can attest that the NZ Nationals are NOTHING like any NSRA/GoodGuys event in the USA, but more like a three night cruise of a big local car club that's by invitation only - good friends/acquaintances who may not see each other more than once a year, but share lots of history and common bond. There're quite a number who don't get much sleep....
Heal quickly Rosie dear.
Ditto what Bob said, and have a great trip laminn8tr!
Thanks for the kind words people.
She reckons She's feeling much better this morning...so; Dannevirke here we come!
thoughts and prayers for Y'all, JB - - - - keep us posted as you can, OK?
meller
Get well and stronger Rosie! Have fun at the Nats you all!
Thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery
Hope you're feeling so much better by the time you get to read this Rosie (SWMBO) Take care of yourself and hope the trip to the Nats was enjoyable.
We didn't have the bus packed, a deliberate move on my part; it might have been seen as presumptuous and put pressure on her, where I wanted it to be entirely up to her if She wanted to go or not.
So we got away about 9:15, I did the packing while She sat, watched, and criticised.
We arrived Dannevirke about 1:15, where She got a bit embarrassed at the reception She was given...it's nice to know that people really do care and are concerned for her...just like on here only more so.
She was in bed by 8:00, and sound asleep when I came back about 9:00.
Sunday we didn't go on the arranged tours or runs, just loafed around giving her time to recuperate a bit more...by Sunday night it was She who insisted we stayed on for the quiz; so bedtime was around 10:00.
By this morning She was pretty well her old self; colour in her cheeks and giving cheek back as good as She got.
It's a bloody huge relief to see her like that...I've always thought She was a keeper...and I want to keep her.
Many thanks for the kind words.
Sure hope Rosie is feeling better, my thoughts and prayers go out to her. Sorry to be late on this as I just got back from my grandson's Marine Corps boot camp graduation in San Diego.
We want you to keep her too! Send her our get well soon thoughts!
Atta girl Rosie..............don't cut the ol' man no slack!!
Glad you're doing better......
JB, that's great to hear she's getting back to her regular self to keep you in check.
Cut me no slack!
Keep me in check!
Hey; I thought us fellas were supposed to stick together!
You're both traitors to your sex!
And I'm sure there's still a death penalty out there for traitors...
The turnaround in Rosie's condition has been nothing short of totally amazing; from bloody near dead a week ago to (almost) back to her usual self in a few short days.
A heart-felt thanks to doctors, nurses, hospital systems, and boffins in white coats that work all day in laboratories.
There's a drug/compound out there that the boffins have concocted that can seal ulcers in the gut lining; thereby preventing the patient from bleeding to death internally, and it's without invasive surgery.
And we're both pleased that our local surgeons had knowledge of it.
All good.
**)Well,,it was a kool few days..Even though we had to use an everyday driver,it was still a good weekend.. Caught up with all the usual old...sorry...youngish friends from near,,and far,,and had a ball... Brewery tour, photo shoots,,poker run, drinking,,eating, hilarity,, more drinking,,hilarity,,stupidity,,fancy dress,,car display,,and ................games.. Hmmm,,we have some sick twisted minds,,with the likes of Colin Prouse, and a few others in the association.. I only took 4 pix the whole time we were there,,but Lynda took the best part of 800,I think.. Please,,imagine,if you can five competitors with zimmer frames,,all a bit loose in the construction,,with ankles tied to the back legs,of the frame,,and having to sprint/shuffle to the finish line about 30 metres away..**):LOL:Hilarious,to say the least..
We also had a shooting comp.. Yup,,just a .22 cal. air rifle, but poppin baloons was the idea.. Darn thing had a scope on it.. can't shoot stuff all with a scope,,hardly ever used one,so,,never did any good there.. Couldn't hit a cow on the arse with a wet spade..:( I think it's fairly normal for me to come home from these events with dirty clothes, and bruises, from arsing over during said event, and this year was no exception.. Also ended up with a bloody cold,,which is why I'm typing this reply at 10.25,this morning.. Not sure where it's happening next year,,but it could be another fine event in the Waikato region.. Looking forward to it..:cool:
Was good to see Johnboy and Rosie there,on saturday..Extra good to see Rosie was much better than she had been.. Don't scare us like that,girl..
If you go to an NZ NSRA Nationals and don't enjoy yourself it's fully your own foolish fault.
Even though we were much quieter this year than we have been in the past, we both still had a lot of fun and an enjoyable weekend.
Just meeting with old friends makes it worthwhile...anything over and above that is a bonus.
And every year for the last nearly twenty years we've been members there has been bonuses.
Thanks Robin; She didn't do it on purpose...believe me!
