Holley Buys MSD Group

Just saw that the MSD Group was pulled into the Holley name. This brings Racepak, Mallory, Edge, Accel, Superchips, and more into Holley’s "Tree of Speed Parts".

When MSD bought Accel a while back I wondered if the move made Accel better, or if it drug MSD down to Accel's level of quality. It seems that all of the established brands are maintaining their autonomy in the market place, but corporate functions are being streamlined under one name. It'll likely be the same with this latest game change.

Well now, that's interesting. Sad to see competition shrinking in the industry, unless this prompts some new companies to form, or smaller existing ones to grow. I suspect this is, in part, the result of business influences that, intentionally or not, discourage expensive employee retention.

Heck in the supercharger park they also bought B&M & Wieand they also bought out or bought the patents off Barry Grant for his demon carbs when they went bankrupt. seems like when you get all the brands you can under one company you can make the price what you want, especially when so many of these companies make the same type of products. I don't see any of these products getting less expensive since they have been bought, maybe "cheaper" if you know what I mean.
One of my friends works at Enersys batteries here in Missouri, I asked him about the Odyssey hotrod batteries they make there and he asked if that was the square ones they make or the 6 pack Optima ones they make! Competitors from the same company, even made in the same plant (very different quality between the two though)

Oligopolies. It's big business' answer to the monopoly ban.
