An Anniversary.
Today is the 24th June here in New Zealand.
On this day forty-eight years ago Rosalie Jennifer Young said ''I do," and thereby agreed to marry John David Norton.
Forty-eight years is a bloody long time, we've had our problems, we've had good times, and some not so good.
And some downright horrible; staring bankruptcy in the face and the very real threat of losing everything on more than one occasion.
But somehow we got through; with a lot of lateral thinking and sheer hard physical work...both of us working 100 hrs. per week, seven days a week, 52 weeks a year, for many years.
And we're still together; and both of us are happy to be so...She said this morning that She thinks I just might be a keeper; to which I replied: "Well if you're ever going to be leaving home I'm coming too!"
Thanks for our kids and all the good times missus...you're a keeper too.

And from Chris and I as well! Happy Anniversary.
And give She Who Must Be Obeyed.. an extra big hug from us on the other side of the puddle. :)
-
Congratulations and if memory serves me right you and the missus are retired dairy farmers and that is a round the clock 365 job and I applaud you and yours.
-
Happy Anniversary, Happy Anniversary, Happy Anniversary, Haaappy Anniversary!
-
Congrats. You're among a breed that is growing more rare as the years go by. If you keep up at this rate, you'll catch up with us.
.

Congratulations to you both Rosie and Johnboy on your anniversary. In this day and age I believe the young people don't hold marriage to any standard especial when we now have TV programs showing couples who have never met get married, all in the name of reality entertainment.
-
Dedication and perseverance, qualities lacking in today's crop of younguns. Congratulations to you and Rosie for sticking it out for 48 years. I applaud you.

Thanks for the kind words people; much appreciated.
We're still good friends, and if separated for any length of time will actively seek out each other's company.
I was in Opunake (our local rural township,) a while ago when I met with Carol Stimpson, a good friend from way back. "Where's Rosie?" she asked.
I replied that She'd just shot across the road to the post office for a few minutes.
"Yeah; I knew if I saw one of you, the other wouldn't be far away."
Crikey! Are we that predictable!
Life, with her, has been all good.
We've been very, very, fortunate.
-
Congrats to you both Johnboy! That is a great achievement!
-
Congradulations Johnboy! Sounds like she's a keeper as well, eh? I'm a bit of a newlywed being only married 42 years - but I tell people I could never leave Joanie 'cause all my stuff's in her garage!
Best,
Glenn
