Those (that) goggles look handy, and would be dandy for tacking stuff up and, as you say, working under a car in close confines, but only for short shots like tacking. Wouldn't do for me, though, I'd set my whole head on fire. It's sort of chancy under the best of circumstances, and I have to cover up real well to do any overhead stuff. :eek::cool:
They look like just the trick for a quick job.
Problem is, quickies are the ones which leave me with uv burns, as they always seem to need "one more pass".
Melanoma certainly ain't your friend.
Looks close to what got me minor surgery to remove skin cancer on my forehead! Surgeon told me most likely from all the welding I do and tacking with my eye's closed!
Gotta give a plug here for a great helmet, I weld at work where they buy whatever helmet I want, I have 3 auto darkenings there the best being a good KT helmet there, had a high dollar auto darkening Snap-on, have had 3 other auto-darkenings and just about wore them all out, just bought the Grizzly tools one for 60 bucks and it blows'em all away for 60 bucks, and looks like spiderman!

I looked at the spiderman helmet last night and am considering pulling the trigger on it.
My auto helmet still works good but Cade has been growing like a weed and has shown an interest in trying his hand at welding. I figure teaching him will be easier with a self darkening helmet than the old fix lens one I let him use to watch me.

Biggest problem is he's still small for his age and finding a pair of gloves that are small enough for him has been a problem. I'll probably have to get those on line. At least he's grown enough that off the shelf safety glasses finally fit him well.

Take it from an old blind man... Use the helmet and dont use the squint and squeeze method. And just for the record, the cancers being burned off your face is no fun either! LOL You will love that machine and get years of use out of it. I was among other things a outside sales rep for the local welding distributors here in San Diego for 20 years. Ive sold pallets of those Handlers. As far as Chinese products go... why not? The new world order, Agenda 21, UN Sustainable Development Knowledge Platform, as its called now is ready to go into operation in September. Just one big happy world with 10 Kingdoms. And thanks Matt for the tip on the Grizzly Helmet. I went ahead and ordered one and it came in yesterday. It seems to only weigh about 1/2 of my old helmet and is a lot more comfortable. I also like that it has the replaceable battery.

Firebird, I actually did find a pair of small leather gloves that will probably work for my grandson.
I did get a chance to use the welder today, it does well, after 20 years of getting used to the quirks of my old welder it will take a bit to get used to the new one.
