Pepi, I have two that I use regularly, a Canon EOS 60D with an 80-200 telephoto that is very powerful if you want other than "automatic" point & shoot; and a SONY CyberShot pocket camera that's great for day to day use, point & shoot with 5X optical zoom and 12.2MegaPixel capability. If you're not wanting to do your own settings on aperture/speed, and plan to basically use the automatic features you don't need anything like the Canon EOS 50D or 60D. Look at the pocket cameras that have got some phenomenal zooms now, and they will do everything you need. Sony CyberShot, Canon PowerShot, etc, etc.
