Wow, using an internet link (and from Forbes no less) to substantiate your claim, the United States was not founded on Christian principles. Really? I could flood this thread with Christian quotes taken from the founding fathers where God & Jesus Christ specifically where spoken of regularly. And, many times where they took quotes directly from the Bible to make their point. But, that's an argument for another time.

I don't know how a thread about a paint job could have degraded so fast to downplaying the importance of God and bashing personal beliefs, just because they may differ from your own.
I've been a member here for over 10 years and always thought this type of bashing was strictly forbidden, especially when it comes to religion or politics, you managed to get 'em both in record time. I've also had a pretty high respect for you over those years, I guess I was miss guided. I guess the easiest way to attempt to discredit a Christian is to take unsubstantiated jabs at them?
As you can probably tell I'm a Christian too, so feel free to take a jab at me too, won't be the first time that's happened strangely enough.

I very very rarely get involved in this type of discussion anymore & I'll apologize now for my knee-jerk reaction. I must admit my blood pressure rose when I read your history revisionist post, and I may regret (later) letting it get me worked up. I'm on the internet way too much anyway.

Me watching that second plane flying into the second tower was like running across my original 1968 428cj Torino---and then learning the guy was taking it to a demolision derby--------------and that was all over and above my total feelings/thoughts about being an American under attack of what was possibly WW3-------


Robin and I went to the gas station, filled up car and truck, bought dried beans and potatoes, went to Red Cross to donate blood------------then realized that our son was at Scout AFB for his first day------------

I too was watching that horrible day and the Ex had tuned in right before the second plane hit. She hollered at me to come see and I saw the second plane hit. For a moment, I was completely and utterly "numb" and then I thought of my friends that worked down town NYC and started trying to call them but with no success. After about 30 minutes, I started going through different emotions and I must have gone thru all of them that I have. First I was grieving for the people there, then I was as angry as I've ever been, then I became frightened, then I would cry, scream and I even went outside and cussed those "Maggots" at the top of my lungs as if they could hear me while throwing everything that I could pick up at the trees and the ground. Well, I took 2 elavils and finally reached my two friends and they were OK then I sat down in my recliner and wept and trembled for I don't know how long. I will say that, in my 73 years, I have never gone through that range of emotions one after another in my life.\

For some reason, Preparation, never crossed our minds but probably 'cause we were so far from it????

Wow, I'm surprised the thread got re-opened. I'll stay out of the first battle..............

I remember that day like yesterday. It was chaos. My girl friend, now my wife was freaking out, my transmission had just went out of my 97 F250 again, and I had to take it to the trans shop. Then I went in to the local PAR terminal and helped get trucks ready to head to NYC so they could take supplies and equipment to help out. It was crazy, it really felt like we could have been getting ready for another attack, you just didn't know when.

Watching the smoke rise on the horizon, all of the fire trucks rolling by with lights blazing. The smell of burning and decay wafting over the river and in to uptown Manhattan. Having the local grade schools evacuated to the local churches and getting a call on my cell from friends in the city trying to walk there way out of downtown and asking me which way they should go before the cell service overloaded and that too went dead. Gathering food and water by the truckload for the staff headed in to the city, gathering people and emergency equipment together and sending them in to the city as well, not knowing what they would find. Feeling anger, frustration, and helplessness, (as you can tell, I still do, we all grieve differently), listening to voicemail from friends of the family to their loved ones, and knowing these are the last words they would ever utter, going to homes where we were living and making our continued support of those who lost loved ones to this day. There is so much more, just can't put it in words here on the forum.

My only advice now is, never leave home angry, hug your wife, kids family whenever you can. No matter what, tell them you love them.....

PS: I asked Brent to ban me for a few days as I cannot do so myself (I tried), clearly I needed a "time out" for stepping over the rules just like anyone else. Who knows, perhaps he'll ban me tonight.

Bill, you don't need to be banned for any length of time in my book as you sir, are a human like us all and certainly entitled to your views. Can I just say one thing more and I don't wish to continue this debate on the religious side, but, sadly most so called Churches ( whether it is Anglicain, Catholic, Muslin or whatever ) are political and have been since the dark ages. The Kennedy's were in bed with the Catholic Church, you have just had a Morman trying to get into your Govnt. and that is scary enough. The Churches have always bend to influence nations for their own needs and will continue to the end of this system of things.
Bill advice about showing love for ones faamily and friends is what ths world lacks sadly, imagine if everybody did watch out and loved there neighbour and family like we were instructed by Christ Jesus, what an amazing world we would live on.
Back to that day that I will always remember, I was a sales rep staying in a Motel up North, I had been for my early morning run and was doing my sit ups when the news came on the radio. I jumped up and turned the TV on and was frozen there for 2 or more hours in shock at what I was seeing. I just kept saying out loud to myself, " the poor people " . I didn't think just of the victims but the extended families of everybody that was effected by the event. It will always remain in my memory as one of those moments that you remember exactly where you were and what you were doing.
