Missed opertunities

My Aunt passed away last Thursday. I hadn't had a chance to talk with y wife until today about my Aunt's 1064? Mercedes Sedan that my cousins were hoping I'd take and restore. It was in prestine condition, but non opted for 17 years or more. I talked with my wife about creating space in the garage to restore the Mercedes to a daily driver. She agreed it was important to me . and thought it was a cool car worth fixing. I called my cousin back to tell her I was interested in taking it, only to find they sold it Friday! She had told me they were waiting until spring to deal with the estate so I felt I had some time to figure out what to do, now I'm seriously sad that it is gone. Sometimes things happen that you are not prepared to deal with!

I have had a few missed opportunities myself. The big one was not having the Camaro done before mom & dad moved away.
Mom had wanted to go for a ride when it was done......

bummer, the one that got away always ouches the most when it has Family, Friends or Memories attached - - - would contacting the buyer be an option for you or not? condolences to the Family

Thank you guys, part of me feels incredibly shallow to focus on this/the other half feels sad that such an important part of her life was disposeed of so quickly. must think on this for awhile

Not good,Steve.. Sorry for the loss of your aunt.. and too bad the family disposed of the Merc without telling you first.. Just maybe they didn't want you to have it,,and got rid of it... Who knows... :confused::confused:

Track down the new owner, perhaps he would be interested in making a small profit, on light of your story.

Today is a better day. Talked with my cousin. The guy who bought it is restoring it for his 81 year old father. Makes me feel better that it won't be destroyed or parting out. Sounded like a real problem to get it out of her garage. the tires were flat for 20 years, but did pump up and hold air. each tire had to be jacked off the cement where they adhered to the cement over the years, so they had to be popped off, individually.. one wheel in the rear was frozen so it wouldn't turn at all. I guess it was quite the ordeal to get it out. In the end I'm o.k. with this and I'm sort of relieved that my small garage won't become any smaller. Thanks for all of your support my Aunt is a second mom to us, so this has been a tuff time.
