no hot rod here C-V joints on a 06 Escape today
Fun fun fun...
The last couple of times I started the 57 Plymouth I heard a lifter ticking. It eventually quiets down, but it sounds pretty serious when I fire it up. I figure it's time to pull the valve cover to take a peek at it and see what's going on. Simple job on the HEMI in the Plymouth…..Dain the coolant (the inner valve cover bolt hole go into the water jacket and I’m running bolts instead of studs because of how far I would have to raise the aftermarket covers to clear them), pull the sparkplugs and tubes, and remove the master cylinder. Then if I have to go deeper to replace a lifter the intake and carbs have to come off to remove the valley pan.
If I have any time left over, there’s a swap meet up in Tucson next weekend and I need to sort thru the shed and see what I can’t live without to clean up and get ready to sell.
On the bright side the Grandkids will be over Sunday which inevitably turns whatever kind of day I’m having into a good one.
.
Hopefully a trip to the Wolf Creek Car, Truck and Bike Show in the Fairlane with my Sweetie (the Wife) on Saturday. It will be only the second Car Gathering that I have been able to make with it (the Fairlane) so far. Probably run her around a little today to check out her (the Fairlane) vital signs and then off in the morning for an hours cruise to the Show. Pics later I hope.
Have a great weekend, Y'all

Tomorrow I have to help a friend with their harvest. IDK if I'll be driving a semi or tractor yet. Saturday night will be a late supper with our friends. Sunday I need to do finish up the doors and shelves in my storage shed, then it's off to Living History Farms so the kids can test out their new costumes. No real hot rod fun this weekend.
Saturday morning here,already...8.15AM... Raining.. got a few jobs to do,,plus a NSRA meeting this morning,,to finalise things for next weekend,,as we are hosting our national event...Gunna be a no sleep zone next weekend,I think..Feeling tired already.. ;) work to do on a friends front fenders, off his 27 roadster Altered.. He has stretched the wheelbase 11 inches to compensate for the extra horsepower the blown BBC is putting out,,so I am stretching, and doing a few other mods to the fenders,to make them look like they still belong..
I am putting a LS in my 51 Dodge. I was thinking how cool it would be to have a hemi to put in it. Mike P you took the cool right out of that. Tomorrow I'm going after a subframe out of a nova for $200. After texting back and forth he wants me to take the whole car for $200.
Car show tomorrow in Mardela. Then Sunday going to get big block Cordoba going again. It hasn't been out garage in years as my Ford sickness took over. I won't bore you with details of how to get a car started that hasn't been started in a while. I'm sure you all know.. Have a nice weekend!!!
Big block Cordoba sounds kool.. 440?? We had a 65 Dodge Monaco several years back,,well,,actually sold it several years ago.. Was a two owner car with less than 80,000 miles on it when I bought it,,but the ol' Poly wasn't happy,,so we built a stroked 400(451 cubes),mild cam,,a bit of headwork,,boy,,what a grunter.. I miss that ol' car sometimes..
starting an engine that has been sitting.. Well,,maybe I was lucky.. We had a 302w/c4,sitting in the corner for six years.. When we bought the F100 into the country,,the Y block was very unhappy,,so we picked up the 302,,and biffed that into the hole.. built an exhaust system out of scraps,,and set about getting it going.. Wound it over with the coil lead out,,built up oil pressure,,pushed the coil lead back in,,poured some gas down it's throat and wound it over for a few minutes,,and away it went.. Awesome.. Never that easy in the past.. Hey,,it's done about 55,000 miles since then.. Love the lil Windsors.. ;) ;)
Same basic setup I have 400 with 440 crankshaft so it is a 451. It came with a 400 but this is not the original one. This is my 2nd one and I had a 440 in it for years. But I've had it since mid 80's and street raced and drag raced it at track for almost 10 years. I kicked so much butt over the years it ain't even funny. My favorite prey was older hot rods from 60's anwd early 70's . They always thought a car from 1976 couldn't run with them but they were wrong. I found that a low gear I ran 3:90 was a big help and I always ran 1/8 mile. Mopars are awesome!!!
Haha,,yeah.. That 451 had legs up to your neckline.. hehe.. I still had the 2.9 rear end,,so I used to terrify the odd young guy by hooking it back into second, with the torqueflite,at about 60 mph and floor it.. Bloody thing howled,,specially for a heavy old C body..
Sounds like a blast from the past.... Great fun those old Mopars!!!!
We got back earlier in the week from a two week trip to SoCal that culminated with the burial of mom (she got nearly a 97 year run so while sad, not maudlin).
While fighting my own nasty ear infection starting to get back into the normal routine. Man, winter project time must be getting in full swing as part inquiries from my C/L ads came rolling in Friday, so looks like I'll be moving some excess "junk" out of the garage. Might get a little fab time in on the '32 sedan, but honestly, that infection as knocked the energy out of me pretty good. Adding years ain't for sissies...............
finished the C-V joints in about 3 hr. Today Repair rear door on Chris suburban. Driver side rear bottom. GM must have planed this rust out about every one around here has it.. They let the hinge opening fill a void between the door skin and an inner brace for the door with water. Water was running out while I cut the opening.
Working on Hot Rods, playing with Grandkids, not necessarily in that order!!!!!!
