Sooooooooooooo----do you wish there was an easier way to upload pics to this site??????????
+1 Thank You For The Pics!!
Fascinating Automobillia!!!
An easier way? I guess I could just post up pics 5 at a time and use the pics straight from the camera.. but the ones from the museum would all be dark and less detail.
Or I could link to an outside source like flikker as I had an account but I don't like the way that "works".. or I could hope Brent pops a few extra grand for another server to store it all...
But I'll just do what I can with what I have to work with, in this case I'm more concerned with sharing the experience with everyone and have been going the extra steps . Hope you both are enjoying the efforts!:)
Should be September 26&7, jb, if they follow tradition for the third Saturday after Labor Day. We'll talk!
Saw this little "teaser" video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bxWOIMChTY

Yes I enjoyed your efforts-and others efforts, no matter what site they uploaded to before posting here--------------however, there are only a dozen or so active members posting anything here anymore and would be 50% less if it wasn't for the 3 word deally---------
I am around lots of auto events-shows, cruises, races, shops----and I take a lot of pictures of stuff that I'm sure others would like to see------I don't want a link to some other site, I want to post them here for this group to see--------
And I also take lots of pics of different machine process that maybe are being discussed by people , but often by people that only have an slight inkling of what they are talking about( if any bit at all), different assembly procedures, techniques of checking clearances, examples of new parts, etc--------
Anyway, so I don't overload Brents server, I won't continue with this post except to point out that even Bill agrees now---------
I can't wait for Monday to roll around so I can see all the Ebay garbage-----------
**)**)**)

Jerry, it doesn't take me long to clean up and re-size and it gives me another opportunity to see ( and really see!) what's in each picture.
To each his own I guess... or as they say, it is what it is. While I understand your complaint(s) and the issue, I also understand there is a heavy cost to do as you ask. I'm sure we'll get there someday, but for now, this is what we work with.
I don't own the site and my meager financial contributions certainly won't pay for larger servers! To those guys who pitched a fit and left.. I was sorry to see some of them go.. but it's better that they left and we don't have to listen to the same whining again and again.
I'm sure all of us will like to see the site advance and get better and better... but the last time Brent did that it put the place in such turmoil.. we still haven't recovered and now he's gunshy of making any changes.. people told him to leave it alone and now we get what they asked for! And of course that is all just my humble opinion / point of view. Having said all that, I think it's STILL the best car guy site on the web! The crew here is friendly and helpful and generally non-judgemental. It keeps me coming back again and again.. I hope you stick around and remain helpful to those less "technical"! :D
I think the site works just fine.... Doesn't take long at all to resize a few pics! No idea what it takes or what it would cost to do all the stuff to make the site work the way some want with pictures, I'm sure Brent would accept a large donation to get it done, though! Then, as Mike mentioned, changing anything on the site would create another mass exodus of members!
Just an observation, but I'd guess more people are put off by some implying that all the rest of us are too stupid to know what clearances and machine processes are, then there's also a few of us that have machinists we trust to do it right and don't have to worry about it! I do know there's some people who don't post much anymore because they're tired of being put down because what they do isn't "professional"!!!!! I feel the forum is best served by members who encourage each other to do what they do to the best of their abilities. Offering advise and the "this worked for me" stuff is IMO a lot more conducive to a smooth running forum then put-downs and smart _____ comments---but then that's just my opinion.
ARRRRRRRRGH!!!!!!!!

:LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL:
Now that is funny!
It's either my internet or the site running awful slow.. let's see if we cannot get a couple photos up. Here's some with cars you may remember! The 21 is the actual car that clashed with Petty and you always see on NASCAR TV commercials.
Pearson and the Wood Bros., a potent combo in the day!:D
There are little "tidbits" of history around each corner.. like these gems.
and then, around the corner was... "The ROOM!"
Here's where they store engines and parts / pieces awaiting "preservation". Right next door to the workshops. Some had been on display already and were now "in storage"...
Here's a couple more of the "ROOM" (my version of heaven!)
And a curious axle. Seems that Ford had a display at a worlds fair (forget if they said 35 or 36.) and to demonstrate how "strong" they built a car, they would drop an axle into a machine which would wind the axle to prove it wouldn't break! I think this one had 5 rotations!
A couple shots of the real deal first years of Soap Box Derby racers. Bill's granddaughters also competed but the pics of their racers came out lousy...
Check out the front suspension and steering on the "grey" car!
That's enough for today.. I'll try and do some tonite and possibly finish it there.:)
I believe I mentioned it earlier, Bill had to have had the worlds largest collection of pedal cars! Of note is the picture with the boy next to "his car".. He owned that car for some 70 years! His Dad won it in a raffle and gave it to his son.. he kept riding it until he couldn't fit in it any longer. So they tucked it away in the attic, until as an old man he knew something had to be done with it so it went into Bills collection and he would come in and visit the old car every once in awhile! In the trunk it has the original tool kit and grease gun! All to scale too!!! Note the lantern on the running board, also original.. this was the convertible model, the same car but hardtop was upstairs.
How about some more race cars?!?! Or at least a midget racer!:3dSMILE:
As you can see, he had a pile of'em.
Now a "different" motor to drool over. imagine 2500 hours in fabrication for just the motor?!?!
How about an early chevy small block v-8? :D
And now a chevy air cooled 4 that didn't come from a corvair.. and a doubled v-8...
And for those "Y- block" fans.
Sooooooooooo Cooooooooooooooooool
And for those serious Flathead guys.
A couple more Flatheads with conversions, the familiar Ardun and a lesser known "Tornado".
Another Flathead conversion that I hadn't seen before. And it's a true hemi!
A couple random shots.
This was Edsel Fords "hot rod". It has a 6 cylinder engine and at that time Ford didn't manufacture any 6 cylinders.. Edsel wanted them to but Henry wouldn't hear of it.
This one has the boat tail rear body, tires have no tread, and there's more gauges in it that most cars of the day.
Can you tell by now that I am a huge Riley fan?!?!?!
Some more random shots and a bit more from HAL .
Anyone ever see this one before?
Here's a real survivor!
And another survivor. The museum was given this as long as they promised to display it in the state/ condition that Bill found it! Can you imagine bombing around the Midwest in this setup?!?! The truck has the same engine as the racer, hi-compression heads and all! I figure it was their backup motor for the race car:LOL:
