Wow this weather is just crazy today!

I got up this morning with the intent of getting everything done early that I could, sit out the mid say due to the heat and then pick up where I left off in the morning. For the last couple of days we have been flirting with 100 degrees in the shade and to be honest its just hot enough where doing physical things is no fun. At 1:00pm I thought I smelled rain? I opened the front of the shop to bright blue sky but it was sprinkling? Odd I thought so I went out side to see a giant wall of black sky behind the shop. Within 5 minutes time it dumped a massive amount of water on the neighborhood. A few cracks of thunder and some strong gusts of wind and now 1:44 the temperature is a whopping 77 degrees. I know it not anything unique to a lot of you but it sure is for San Diego... I cant express how wonderful a little bit of moisture can be! down side is now I have to go back to work! :rolleyes: What is your weather like today?

I went through boot camp at MCRD, San Diego starting in September of 1961 and then spent most of 1962 at MCRD attending ground radar repair school and on occasion the weather can get pretty weird, torrential rain and fog so thick you can't see your hand in front of your face.

We need the precip also but have only been blessed with slightly cooler temps and NO humidity - - - - that in itself is like being in another country. But I'm sure we'll have some more steamers before the Holidays get here.

I didn't even know that there is a hurricane climbing up the Baja peninsula and this is one of the advanced thunder bumpers from that. Guess we could have some semi serious weather headed our way. Oh Great!

We are back to blazing sun and steaming humidity. It was good while it lasted!

highs in the 60 s Oct. weather in September

Two weeks ago we had 94* on a Thursday and 58* on a Friday and then 78* on Saturday. It's been cool since. I'll take it, but it doesn't sound like the winter will be any fun..................

Shortly after my last post the power went dead and all hell broke loose... I never experienced a Micro burst before but very impressive. It lasted for about 30 minutes with ultra high winds and hard, hard rain. It snapped off trees and up rooted a lot of them falling across power lines. I closed up shop and came home. I will try again tomorrow.

Hey the B-III's have the ultimate co pilot with us all the time and if for some reason the worst happens, I'm good to go. But thanks for the concern and thought.

It was 94 degrees here today about 15 degrees above normal and 2 degrees hotter than Phoenix. Something that doesn't happen very often.

Supposed to get some of the rain from M.T.'s area later this week.

We've been getting rain from the same storm since Monday night and the worst is supposed to hit today and tomorrow. I'm not expecting any problems other than having to cut the grass again after it drys out......and it had been turning such a lovely shade of brown :LOL:

I did check the gas supply for the generator just in case though.

Crazy here too....It's like Fall is here already!!! Today might finally reach 70 degrees, first time in a couple weeks. Rumor's have it that we have a hard winter coming---again.!!! Need to get my stuff caught up so I can escape for awhile this winter!

It's kind of nuts everywhere, it looks to me like. Hot here in Sin City, too, but then it's supposed to be hot here yet; fall will fall soon enough, the it will get cold.

Compared to what the rest of the world puts up with on a regular basis I shouldn't even mention it. But what a weird thing it was. Very Hot clear day, out of no where a black cloud appears over head and dumps so hard that the curbs are running over. The wind starts blowing at hurricane speeds and just rips the hell out of the neighbor hood. 30 minutes later the rain stops along with the wind, the cloud moves on and about a 2 square miles of earth is still in the process of being cleaned up. Of course it happens just before everyone is heading home from work so no power at the gas stations, fast food, or grocery stores. What a mess! I drove around for a while this morning in amazement... Wish I had my camera. Oh well its always good to have a healthy respect for mother nature as well as have an emergency bug out bag ready. Glad I had an extra 5 gallon can of gas in the Desert Hippo. :eek:

Still low humidity here with scattered "sprinkles" but I ain't complaining. I can actually stay outside without having to come in and wring my clothes out after thirty minutes. Haven't had to mow in a couple of weeks and if things don't change I won't mow again this year. WHOOPIE

low 90's so that is the beginning of fall :) we had a really mild summer and it's predicted we are going to have a hard winter. going to get the shed braced up in case we have that ice again. got about 20 trees down so i'm good .

I never gave any thought to getting ready for winter... What all do you guys actually have to do before winter hits? Here we put away the tank tops and get out the Hoodies? Shorts and flip flops all year long. Really severe weather we will brake out the long pants. Do you have to cut down trees?

i use wood to heat my home. so i clear trees each year and cut and split them. this year i'm making room for a barn area so i've downed about 20 trees. winterize the pool and outside faucets. last year we had some heavy ice that almost took down my shed. had to get the tractor out and move inderweed so i could brace it up with the bucket .

Oh wow... never thought about the weight of Ice. That could get heavy really fast!

Winter prep here includes all kinds of stuff that doesn't get done until the middle of the winter. :LOL: Like picking up the extra junk you've hoarded or stored outside in the summer. Because once it starts snowing, that stuff will be frozen to the ground and burried. Or the snow plow will tear it all up and burry it just as well.

At my parent's place, we will put plastic on some windowsa on the 2 porches they have. We put straw bales around the area by their NW corner of the house. We put up snow fences as their drive way drifts bad. This year we need to build a wind barrier by their fuel oil tanks. Their furnace is an older unit and runs off diesel. It needs serviced too. You have to get a truck and skid loader ready to move snow, winterize your vehicles. It's on and on. Haha

Yes on both. It'll get more expensive if you forget and don't do it too. 2 years ago we had water only in my corvette. We were out in the barn at midnight and 26* draining that SOB. It was a fast cold snap not forecasted and it could have been real bad. I added a coolant drain pet cock before refilling the radiator with coolant. :LOL: Last year my buddy forgot to drain the water from his intercooler and plumbing on his pulling truck. Well, he had to redo it all in the spring. Ooops Haha

we dont get this a lot. i just threw up a shed to park stuff under. we had a 4 in snow a few years ago that loaded it pretty good. but then last year it was ice instead of snow. all that white stuff is ice pellets. even my house was a little scary with the load. i lived in the mountains of Colorado for a while and it was tuff.

I've been cutting, splitting and piling wood of and on for the last few weeks. Just discovered that my old Ford 861 tractor that I use for plowing and blowing snow needs two new rear tires.:eek: I knew they were old but I hoped to get another winter out of them. Now I have to get them before the snow flies.:(
