71 Nova- Help
I have a 71 Nova with a small block 350 with a Edelbrock carburetor and intake new full pump, new gas tank and fuel sending unit. I have a clear gas filter right before it reaches the carburetor I can see that it doesn't have a constant flow of fuel going into the carb. If the car sits for a few days it won’t start on its own without dropping some gas in the carb it seems that fuel won’t stay in the gas filter. The gas filter is never full of gas at all . Car stays on at little but will shut of when accelerated due to not enough gas.

It sounds as if you might have a clogged fuel system, most likely in the tank or a weak fuel pump.

Thank You for the response, what would be the best starting point?

There is a filter on the pickup in the tank. It may be blocked. Welcome to CHR enjoy your stay post some pictures of your Nova ..you'll generally get good results for your questions

I would drain the tank to see if the filter is clogged and if so clean it. I would also disconnect the line going to the fuel pump and blow air through it to clean it out. If the tank is full of crud it should be removed and cleaned or replaced. Once that is done you can determine if the fuel pump needs to be replaced. This is what I did on my 76 Vette though it had sat for a couple of years and the tank was full of crud and the fuel line to the pump was partially clogged.

Just my 2 cents, Those clear fuel filters have burnt many a car to the ground, go with a metal one.
