Hope this isn't out of line... BUT

I've been addicted to a couple of these forums for quite a few years. The CHR is the one I go to where I feel most comfortable, and less intimidated than any other forum I frequent. While this place has a wealth of instant knowledge it truly has value to me... yep enough value where I think its worth forgoing a few movies and investing the money here. I know things are really tight for a lot of us and we tend to take forums like these for granted. Just saying that the CHR just might be around longer if we help out once in a while? Just an observation and suggestion... no tail twisting! :) Wahoo, sure glad I dont pay to play here by the hour! :eek: Or paying a penny a post on the 3 word story? **)

I am in one now trying to learn about this First Gen 67 327 AMC Vigilante. Most people have been friendly. Other's its as if I am suppose to take everyone's word and if someone want's to sell me something I should just jump at the chance. I am feeling a bit uncomfortable and ready to shutdown there. I am needing a distributor, vendors tell me they have one that will work when it won't. People who rebuild them tell me they have one that will work when the Main shaft is obviously different from mine (this one is slotted the end). I thought I had one and through caution to the wind and the main shaft cam came off while trying to disassemble it. When looking for 35 Ford rear fenders other people thought they had some that were 36's. They thought since the front fender were interchangeable so were the rear. Anyways - Sure like it here as well. But I need to dive back in to get what I need.

You’re spot on the money MT!
It’s well worth is to participate with a financial contribution to CHR now and again. There are a lot of really brilliant minds here at CHR. It’s the only car forum I frequent anymore as I nearly always enjoy the exchanges and continue to learn from those who post here. I have found that if I ask nicely, I get a response in kind. I don’t have time for “know-it-alls” especially those who try to impress with off the wall statements that after sixty plus years of living I know to be a load of nonsense. I usually ignore those and respond only where there is sincere interest to learn and where I believe I can add value. I will admit that on “rare occasions” I have baited a few folks, but try for the most part to be friendly and get along. Life is too short to argue – especially on a forum.

Hope your time here is enjoyable and that you not only receive some good advice but take the time to share with the rest of us what you’ve learned along the way. One of the great things about hot rods is that there’s no one right way to build one and we can all enjoy what we drive. I’m always amazed at what I learn here. Not too long ago, I gave a pair of new-in-the-box Dodge wheel cylinders that I had picked up at a yard sale many years ago to a guy who had an old International truck. Lo and behold – they were a near exact match and looked like a perfect fit. I never got the guy’s last name, but somewhere, Larry’s hopefully now driving his International with the Dodge wheel cylinders.
