Craigslist score of the week!!!

Mike just scored an OEM under dash AC unit for his '61 Buick....Complete underdash unit, including condenser and new hoses, re man GM compressor for $100.00!!! What a find and just in time. Warm weather has got to be here eventually and Mike was about a week away from plunking down the big $$$$$ and getting a Vintage Air unit! I think the under-dash unit is the perfect setup for the car, might do a bit of sheet metal work and build in into the dash as the dash on the old Buick's hangs down a long ways anyhow!!!!

I guess everyone gets a bit of good luck once in a while!!!!!

Man that is a steal, just the compressor is a couple hundred.
I have to get a new compressor, clutch, receiver drier and replace all the o rings
in my 1970 Buick Rivera. I will do a rebuild on the motor first though.
Not sure on the cam yet though, You guys were saying that there not building the hydrolic
cams the same anymore and they like to flatten the lobes. So I'll have to look at a mild roller
for that big 455 motor. I would have used Erson's TQ 20 cam shaft because it has no lope
and would run up to about 5,000 rpm's. That way it could still run the A/C ok.

Definitely go hydraulic roller on it Kurt! With today's oil, running a flat tappet cam makes about as much sense as playing Russian Roulette----with 6 bullets in the revolver!!!!!!

Agree, it's not the cams that changed, it was the Federal Government meddling with the oil due to EPA concerns that additives that have been used for over 100 years are all of a sudden going to kill us via road side deposits.
