68 mustang $2100 ?

Not enough information for you to make a rock solid estimate, but is 2100 a good price for a mustang?

Runs / drives. Interior missing except seats. New floor pans. Needs rust repair in trunk and battery tray area, and hood hinge area. Hood missing. Straight six, auto, a/c.

I haven't looked at it yet, probably more rust than I've described, there always is. Sounds like a good solid start for restoration, just want to know if the price is ballpark ( I think it is ).

Sounds like it could be a rusty money pit with the items you mention. Were the new floor pans put in right, or like too many just welded over the old ones? I doubt I'd take time to go look for $2100, but I'm not really a coupe fan anyway. There's still too many decent stock drivers out there for less than $4K to waste time on the rusty ones.

Take an icepick with you. Usually the rust you can see is about 10% of what is really there. Stickin' an icepick in several places can tell you volumes.

Just the fact that the hood is missing and it is a straight six would keep my money in my pocket.
It sounds more like a $200 parts car to me. Just my $0.02 OK?

$2100 does seem like a bit much for a 6cyl car. But around here any running driving V8 65-68 coupe seem to be bringing anywhere from $3-5k, I was really surprised. I've been watching for a while since we've been gathering parts for my mom's 68.

Things may be different in Iowa, but the '67/68's that are actually BRINGING $3 to $5K are decent drivers that generally don't have visible rust, original 289 or even 302 conversions, decent original paint, decent original interior, all parts in place, etc. The ones that have clearly visible rust in critical structural locations (battery box, hood support, spring boxes, floor pans rusted through, etc, etc) are going for much, much less, and those with missing major panels (fenders, hood, doors) are salvage value. A decent, original paint, V8 auto or 3spd coupe, not restored will be less than $5K. I'd put the one offered in the less than $500 range in the KC area.

If you find some V8 67-68 coupes let me know as we're looking for parts still. Everything up here is like you are saying, junk. Except for what decent survivors pop up, which are pretty limited.

They pop up time to time, often young kids who buy one thinking they can "restore" it with a rattle can and a set of plug wires from AutoZone. There was what looked to be a nice $4000 DD in DesMoines a few days ago, but seems to be gone now. Saw it on One Craigslist...

I remember back when I had my Falcon I was looking for a 6cyl Mustang to put the Turbo motor in and found a few for less than $1k needing very little to be drivable. 1 had a blown engine and the car was an older resto for $800 IIRC..

Now what I'd like to do is get a '66-'69 Falcon 4dr and skin it like a Mustang. Just because

Been seeing a lot of cars (not just Mustangs) being sold for less then 1/2 of what it would cost to build a hulk to the same level..... Many folks think they can just throw money at a Mustang and always find some fool to pay them a ridiculous price for it..... Only the top of the heap cars bring the premium prices, most of the others can be had for peanuts.... Maybe I'm just getting old and lazy, think I'd be for spending more money on a done car that I could just get in and drive home if all I wanted was a driver....however I can't remember the last time I got enthused about a driver......

The value of any car is such a subjective thing. For me personally, if it's something I really want I'll pay the price! As for a coupe, not on my list of things I'd want...Now if it was a Fastback and I had some $$$$ and time to put in another project!
