Steve's right, unless the "brackets" you're making are motor/tranny mounts 1/8" stock would be plenty, and that should have been in my earlier response. Sorry, Craig. You'll be increasing your grinding by 1/3 using that 3/16" for boxing plates. Maybe they'll swap it out for you if you've not cut into it yet?
