The biggest game I shoot anymore are the occasional gofers in the yard so I’ve sold off most of my larger caliber stuff. I have a few long guns left but my favorite is my Granddads first rifle, this little Hamilton. They were only built between 1899 and 1901 so it’s fairly rare. It was in pretty rough shape when I got it, so it was restored and among other things got a new barrel so it could be shooter. I also built the case to keep it in (I hate working with wood, but it came out OK). It’s surprisingly accurate at short range.

I occasionally refer to it as my 2 dollar rifle in a hundred dollar case.

As small and light as it is it’s ideal for teaching my grandkids to shoot.
