09-27-2013 08:41 AM #1Chrystler Brings Back 500 Workers at Jeep Plant

We don't talk a lot about Jeeps here, but I was heartened to read this news:

"Chrysler Group said today it will bring back on Monday the second shift of workers making its new 2014 Jeep Cherokee after speeding repairs on the SUV's powertrain software.

The automaker idled the 500-worker shift at its Toledo Assembly Complex on Monday, Sept. 23, because a large number of Cherokees had been built but not yet released to dealers. Engineers have been working on software fixes, also called patches, to smooth out the way the SUV's engines, transmission and disconnecting drivetrain interact.

The company said that progress on a fix is being made. It's unclear when shipments to dealers will start."

I know it's a re-post, but I for one remember the Jeeps of the fifties - my father bought a surplus Willys for $250 and we had a blast with that thing. I know too that today's Jeeps have nothing in common with the old WWII units but still like to see that 500 folks are coming back to work on cars in America."Where the people fear the government you have tyranny. Where the government fears the people you have liberty." John Basil Barnhil
