Unfortunately between the politicians and their lap dogs in the media the real story gets disguised. If folks want to know why this will continue to be an issue they need to do some digging on their own (which is highly unlikely). Bingoogle "U.S. refinery capacity" or similar. We are now down to less capacity at full, uninterrupted production than what we consume. Any hiccup, or routine maintenance shut down, at a refinery and the supply stream shrinks. Price is a control mechanism. As consumers who've blithe-fully ignored reality while an over active "environmental" gang and meddling bureaucrats have hobbled a vital industry we get to pay the piper now and into the foreseeable future. Decisions have consequences.
