Called for rain with 20 laps left.... Frank won, his 77th ARCA win and keeps him in the points lead for this season!!!
What's the weather forecast? did they say? Wonder if NASCAR will get practices & qualifying in?
Forecast for Saturday doesn't look good, could be a rainout. Sunday forecast was good, though...
could be real interesting if they can't get practices in and have to race on last years notebook!
They did get the practice sessions in on Friday, no qualifying today and the grid is determined by practice speeds on Friday.... could make for an interesting start!!!!!
yep, but it's a long race so plenty of time for adjustments. First time there with gen6 cars too.
Frank went to work for a new team last year and drives a Toyota.
After a 3 hour rain delay, they're trying to run the Nationwide race now, televised on ESPN.
It's been an interesting race so far. I can't help but say it, 2 car pairings is real racing! something like 30 lead changes so far!!
You know you're at Talladega when 6 cars hit the wall at the same time!!!!!:LOL::LOL:
And what a finish! WOW!
An exciting finish for sure.....but another half dozen or so cars get junked on what turned out to be the last lap. I guess it's to be expected when they run in pairs doing the bump drafting, the second car in the two car draft can't see a thing and big ugly wrecks happen.
It's no different when they are 43 deep and stuck together in a lump, like tomorrow will be... at least the 2 car pairs gives everyone an equal chance, it looked like Kurt Busch had'em covered I thought. Oh well, crazy racing but it was exciting!
I was hoping for Kane to be able to make the big move, which he did, and pull out and win the thing....too bad the yellow came on when it did, he had the win at the finish line!
There just is no cure for the ailments presented by the Superspeedway's, the technology has just exceeded what the tracks can handle! Personally, I wish they'd cut back on the Superspeedway races and go back to having a race at Rockingham and maybe even have a race on the new track in Iowa. Safety on the new cars and the improvements on the tracks have done wonders, but eventually the law of averages is going to kick in and result in a real catastrophe at either Talladega or Daytona......
Well there's one thing we agree on!:LOL:
The superspeedways have seen their day come and go. And 2 races at Daytona & Talledega are 1 to many each!
Give us another Rockingham or Darlington or even another New Hampshire or Pocono..:D
Well, the tracks clean and green with 63 laps to go.. 3.5 hour rain delay.. NHRA on ESPN @ 7pm!
Maybe they can get the race finished before the daylight is gone or the rain returns!!!!
Any bets on who's going to be the 1st of the survivors on this one?????
Betcha the 24 car won't win any car shows!!!! I'd fire the guy who brought that patching tape along!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:LOL::LOL:
There's no way I'd bet on any race at Talledega!!! If it wasn't for bad luck the 24 wouldn't have any at all!
Back to watchin Top Alcohol / Dragsters on ESPN...
OOPs now funny car TAD
Well, that was ugly!!!! Stenhouse THOUGHT he had room on the outside!!!!
Love to hear about the "Newman Bar"... and guess who gets to test it?!?!? So now we've had 2 "big ones"...
Never woulda guessed David Ragan!!! Good for them! They deserved it! Carl Edwards looked good for a change.
Two wins for him, once at Daytona, then here in Talladega... If you're only going to win a couple races, that's a pair of big ones to win....
Between 4 wide drags and these plate crash fests---thinking about maybe taking up golf-----------or tennis--at least the ball is moving in tennis and its only two people at a time like drag racing should be-------
Hmmmm. Just noticed again while watching "The Hub" on Speed.....Michael Waltrip was one of the first (other then the crew) to go and congratulate David Ragan.....Do you suppose he might have been setting the stage for a bit of recruiting to get Ragan over to racing a Waltrip Toyota next year????? Hmmmm.
A little recruiting never hurts right?? And I think he's always trying to win the good sportsman award..
And I think he brought his car home without a scratch on it! So he's got no-one to be mad at! rofl..
