Roadster roll over
A friend of mine died Saturday afternoon. He was taking his son for a ride in his BBC powered roadster when he lost it on a back road near here.. I heard the medavac copter but had no idea it was anyone I knew till this AM. He was 74 and pronounced at the seen. They don't know yet what caused it but I would think speed not xxx had a hand in it. (Not wearing seatbelt) .They say he rolled several times. His son was later released from the hospital but haven't had a chance to talk to him yet. Good weather is coming GOT to be carful out there..

Sad situation. My condolensces to the family and friends.
It looks like the car even had double hoop rollbars but without a seatbelt you can become a projectile.
The lesson I'm taking from this is to at least install seatbelts in my roadster. (edit) ..and always use them.

sorry to hear of your loss, Charlie, those things can happen so quick and then "it's over" - - - thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends.

It's always sad to lose a friend in an accident, but even more tragic when it might have been prevented by something as simple as a seat belt. One of the things I studied long & hard was how to secure three point belts in the coupe, and they're always hooked. Sorry about your friend, Charlie, and glad that his son survived the accident.

So sorry to hear of this Charlie.. It's bad news, for sure,,when you lose a friend like this..Even worse in an open car,and not wearing a belt..
Our condolences to you and your family, and of course to his family..We have lost good friends in similar circumstances..Not good..

Charlie-God rest his soul.Take some comfort in the fact he left doing what he loved driving his car.
-
Charlie, sorry for the loss of your friend, its hard lossing what few friends we do have....!
-
So sorry to learn of this.
Rolled several times? Nothing good can come from that statement, but in this case his son survives and that is very good.
Damn pretty car too!
-
My condolences Charlie. My heart goes out, especially to his son ans this will follow him for the rest of his life. Hope maybe you can "come along side" and be comfort to the family..

Sorry to hear about your friend and his son, Charlie!!! Wrecks seem to happen every year early in the season like this. Our prayers go out to you and your bud's family, loosing old friends is always tough....
-
Always really hard to hear about these things. My prayers and thoughts go out to his son and family. Really tough way to loose your dad... But like 1gary said earlier, at least he went out with the wind in his hair and most likely a smile on his face.

Bad news alright Charlie.
Our condolences to his family and friends.

Sad to hear Charlie. I feel your loss, I lost a good friend last friday myself. He died in the hospital but he also had a roadster...
The car looks very familiar. Did he ever bring it up my way for a show or cruise?

He drove that car everywhere he has driven it to CA. and all points in between all over the south I would not be surprised that you have seen it around MI.

Found out last Friday as I said his son was with him in the car..Throttle stuck to floor. He had been having trouble with it but only when he got on it hard. Can't believe this guy would let something like that go. It was a cable linkage don't know the brand (yet).
