Yep.. I gotta wait 'til 8 pm... almost there.
Townley won the ARCA race in a Venturini car, the other 3 team cars were all in the garage!!! Hard to believe it, but with all the years Bill Venturini has had cars in ARCA this was his first Daytona win!!!!!
The Biff leads first lap!
And the first big one. Smoke and Ambrose get together (just touched) and when the cars on the high side reacted to it - those cars just seemed to be on ice, just slippin' and slidin'.. a lot of big names in that wreck!
Just like practice yesterday, cars are looking good, drivers are screwing up!!!!!!!
they are all back in school, gotta re-learn what they know!
Yeah, really!!! Smoke got sideways, through sparks all over then drove to the front and won the first segment!!!! How'd you like to be the crew chief tonight----brand new car, gets loose as the fuel load goes down-----brand new cars first night out, how do you adjust???? The crew chiefs will earn their money tonight, too!!!
Pole qualifying tomorrow and Danica was fastest in the last qualifying session today, wonder if she can win it????
I was just reading about Danica, it's good to see her doing well.
Kenseth is STOUT! ( I hope he wrecks! LOL)
It doesn't look like Kevin Harvick is planning on just rolling over and playing dead in his final year with Richard Childress!!!! That car's a rocket!!!! The last segment should be good, Kenseth, Harvick, or Stewart????
Actually, I am disappointed. So far this is the usual, ride in line for 7/8ths of the race ( or should that say "drive"? 'cause we've only seen what 4 or 5 passes for the lead) BORING!
Give me the 2 car pairings and let's do some real racing!
Best part of that finish is Harvick pulls a lame burnout and the cheby dies!!! ROFL!!
With only 19 cars starting the race and a dozen around at the end, kind of hard to see what the new car will really be like. The driver's have a lot of learning to do on the aero peculiarities of the new car, that's for sure!!!!! I would expect the intensity to go up a level or three on Thursday for the Duels!!!
I'm thinking I'll discount the Daytona and Talladega races.. (again)..
I'm hopeful for the 1 & 1/2 milers. Where the air can be a little less dependant. I've got a bad feeling about the Big Show, 43 of them racing for the same turf... instead of losing 7 at a time, who knows how many will crash at once?
Sorry for repeating this again but, the best racing at Daytona / Talladega (imo) was the 2 car pairings. Lots of passing the whole race through and just about any combo could be a winner. Sadly, many didn't agree and prefer two lane ride along for 498 laps. sigh..
Most all of the restrictor plate races have the cars equalized to the point that there's more luck involved with the finish than anything else. All it takes is one knucklehead to tangle things up and it can take out half the field. Plate racing is not fan friendly, and the teams don't like it either.
Wow!! I was over at a friend's house helping him this afternoon....Got home and turned on SPEED to find out that Danica Patrick did win the pole for the 500!!!! That Stewart-Haas team is just full of surprises, huh????
I'm glad she pulled it off, she beat her boss/owner to boot!
Roger, the cars have been equalized and re-equalized, it's the same old story. The drivers don't like it and the fans don't like it. I'd prefer they take off all the spoilers, give'em a skinny tire and let's see who is the real driver(s)..
I did like that I knew what kind of car was in the lead by looking at the grill, that' some progress. There was also some good drag racing last night.
NASCAR modifides on now (Speed), then the K&N East series at the 4/10 mile track at Daytona. Kyle Larson won last night (controversial), and is in both races tonight!!!! Hmmmmm, paybacks anyone????
Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch won the Duel's yesterday, good weekend for Harvick so far!!!! Trucks run tonight, sure to be wild as it always is when the trucks run a Superspeedway!!!!
Just found this..

Youch.........
Shame the fans got hurt..
"New" car, same old results, ride in a line all day and just wait for the big one!
This morning they announced that none of the spectators injured have any "life threatening" problems... Hate to see anyone get hurt at a race, but then it's not exactly a game of tiddly winks, either. I suppose there will be a whole rash of "experts" who will play would of, could of, should of about the way the catch fences are built. Seems every sport is doomed to contend with Monday morning quarterbacks.......
Seems to be the way of the world.................yet again. More people have/will die this year in the US as a result of jerk face idiots texting from behind the wheel of their daily driver than will from racing accidents. But what gets the big headlines?
Glad no serious problems for those fans, and NASCAR will improve fences yet again based on what they learn from this incident..............it's called progress.
Now................let's get this race goin'!!
back in the day there was a 6x6 square wire fence between the fans and the trach where I raced Wasn't any good for keeping clay out of your beer or popcorn
when they just showed the kevin harvick in camera during his wreck he was not holding the steering wheel ... is that normal during a wreck ?
When all is lost and you're just waiting for the big impact it's a good idea to let go of the steering wheel!!!! When one of the front wheels impact the wall or another car it will generate more force then you can hold with your hands and arms so something has to give.....from personal experience it's usually one or both wrists, or a number of fingers, or the hands that wind up being broken!!!!!!
Hopefully the comintators will get off Denica's back I thought she ran a clean race.
I agree, Danica ran a respectable race. Decent finish also.
I know I'll take flack for this but I gotta say, the Fords are to heavily handicapped and can only be also rans. Chevy got the package again this year. Toyotas were doing well until their motor package began unraveling..
Biffle didn't dare get out of line, Johnson & Junior could dive to the bottom and almost pull to the front without any real help. Keselowski caught a lucky break and sat in front of Biffle and they looked good, until Johnson in the lower lane came charging to the front.
Oh well, just my opinion and venting.. lamenting.. Isn't NHRA at Phoenix??
The good news is, that's one less restrictor plate race to endure this year!!!! Think everybody learned a lot on the aero characteristics of the new car, anyway. Now it's on to Phoenix and a nice 1 mile track and a 8" spoiler on the back of the car instead of the 4" they have to run in plate races! I thought Bad Brad was running really good considering how beat up the front of his car was, and Biff was surrounded by them other brands so there was no help for him at all!!!!!
Possible cheating already?!?! It was only the first race!!
from FoxSports...
The Nationwide Series team that had two cars involved in the horrific multi-car wreck during Saturday's Drive4COPD 300 at Daytona — including Kyle Larson's car, which vaulted off another car and into the catch fence, showering parts into the stands and injuring at least 28 — is under scrutiny for possible rules violations by NASCAR.
Sources have told FOXSports.com that principals from Turner Scott Motorsports are meeting with the heads of NASCAR on Tuesday to discuss Larson’s car as well as Danica Patrick’s, which was discovered to have modifications to the car’s chassis during inspection at Daytona International Speedway. Patrick was competing as a Turner Scott teammate to Larson and was not involved in the wreck.
NASCAR has brought Patrick’s No. 34 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet back to its Research and Development Center for further inspection. Patrick completed 31 laps in Saturday’s Nationwide race and led five circuits before her engine expired and she was forced to the garage.
