Jerry,
I knew Costco had a good price match program, but their policy says it is generally up to the store manager where you buy. So I sent an e-mail to their On-Line Department this morning, listing all of the details, and within an hour I had a reply that they were crediting my card for the $50 difference! Cannot beat that kind of service!
On the telescope, they don't list the Nexstar 102GT on-line, but I saw in a star gazer forum that many of the stores had special purchased them, and that they are marked down locally - some say $200 and some say there was a further drop to $150. Good reviews from the stargazer sites, too! Only issue is a bit of vibration, but solved with an underslung sand bag, or a stiff bungee to the deck.
Thanks for the push on chasing the Costco credit!!
I gotta check what I paid for the telescope as I also saw it advertised down to around 150-------
The Costco out here on I35 in Lenexa only had the display model of the 102GT remaining, and the big lens had lots of finger prints (or worse :HMMM:) marked down to $130, which is a pretty deep discount. I doubt one could get a price match at that level, as it's their advertised pricing that they go by, not the display price. Looks like quite a scope for less than $200! One of the stargazer sites had a guy's writeup saying that he had substituted some eyepiece lenses that he already had to boost the magnification, and he was stunned by the results - even using a 2X barlow it was crystal clear. At the Bushnell Outlet today the cheapest reflector they had with motor drive was in the $325 range - didn't really pay attention to the magnification details.
Not too hot rod related I guess. Been workin' on Photos I took at the Christmas Program last week.
MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY
