75 laps to go
and Jeff Gordon just got rid of a whole season's worth of frustration in one idiotic move.... Gonna be some big fines and days off from this one!!!!!
Johnson lost a tire, hit all by himself.
and after it was all over, Kaslowski is heading for Homestead with a 21 point lead, needs to finish 15th or better to win the Championship regardless of what Johnson does!!! Harvick ended up winning the race, his first this year...
Just watched the last minutes,,saw the replay of the scrap in the pits,,and for once,a Busch wasnt involved??hmmm..
What a way to finish a race,,with even more carnage on the start/finish..
Yeah, could have been really ugly....no idea why NASCAR didn't have the yellow out, Burton spun Danica out on the preceding lap, then they finish the race under green with Danica's car sitting backwards on the front chute....Stupid, just plain stupid!!!!
Yeah, when everybody came around she got hit again!!! Fortunately she still had the belts on, could have just as easily been unstrapped and got hurt bad!!! Officials just got stupid and wanted to get the race over and weren't thinking, it was a green-white-checkered, and the lead car already got the white flag, so a yellow flag would have ended the race and prevented all the carnage on the last lap........ Like I said, just plain stupid!!!!
And that weasal Gordon should be parked next week for his cowardly actions! Laying in wait to retaliate and collecting 2 innocents in the mess.. They parked Busch for a couple 'cause his mess was on pit road, Gordon attacks at over 100 in the corner!!
What a brat and a shame he was once a champion...
And that last lap B.S. NASCAR has some 'splainin to do!!
Yeah, Busch did the same thing to Hornady last year at the truck race in Texas and got a week off. Be really curious to hear the announcements on Tuesday!!! (penalty day at NASCAR) Whoever was in charge of calling for a yellow should get the week off, too!!!! They'll throw a caution for a plastic water bottle on the track, but not for a blown engine, oil on the track in turn #4, and a car going 10 mph on the front chute~!!!!!!! Guess it depends on who you are as to when the caution is thrown????? Betcha Smoke has something to say about it as he owns Danica's car!!!
Yeah, I agree. The ending of todays race was bad news! It shouldn't happen. Now to go see the drags!
I will be honest and say that I will be pleasantly surprised if Gordan gets more than a slap on the hand. As for the yellow, the race should have ended under caution. The announcers even said she was out of the way but when the cars went around the corner, she is low on the track, but still on the track. I don't know if she saw it coming or not, but she took a heck of a hit.
I hate to say it (or see it) but you're probably right..... Also, on the initial hit, something broke on Danica's car and she dumped oil all over turn 4!!! Should be an interesting week with NASCAR either slapping Gordon's hand, as you say, while they are twisting things around to say Bowyer started it all and deserves what he got---do you suppose Logano and the rest of those involved deserved to be wrecked on the last lap and screwed out of a good finishing position too?????:rolleyes::rolleyes:
The 'something' that broke on Danica's car was the result of Burton escorting her into the 4th turn wall - too bad as she was having a decent day.
Now, on to Homestead. If nothing else, that incident will help fill those empty seats like Yarborough and Allison's wiffle years ago. Teflon Jeff - probably a small to him fine and a 'to the end of the season' probation, unless it gets turned around and becomes Bowyer's fault
NASCAR handed out a few fines and probation time...However with one race left and probation til the end of the year gotta wonder why they bothered. Gordon got hit with a $100K fine and lost 25 points, not either of those mean much on his wages, and he was already out of contention on the points anyway... Pastor Bubba was right, nothing but a slap on the hand....
I almost hate to say it but, I expected as much! Jeff Gordon and Chevrolet get their way every time!
Just about any other driver... and certainly any other manufacturer would've been banned for the last race!
Next time a driver waits on the track and retaliates.. Last time was on pit road and that was bad enough! But to wait on the track (and get no yellow!) just to retaliate!!
Only Jeff Gordon & Chevrolet!! What a mess!
I was reminded yesterday that when Kyle Busch did the retaliation thing with Hornady he was already on probation, at least that's what NASCAR is using as the rationale for no suspensions!!!! Probably about as close to consistency in handing out punishment as we should expect them to get when dealing with Gordon, I suppose....
Like him or not, Jeff Gordon is not the 'usual' suspect and has seldom gotten into trouble. He has never caused many problems nor has he over the 18-20 years he has been in NA$CAR. He and Bowyer seem to be magnets, same as Edwards and Keselowski were a year ago, Logano and Newman, Danica and Cassill( I think) etc, etc, etc. Every one of those drivers in the 43 regular racers have dumped someone that has 'caused them harm'. Look at your regular Saturday night warriors on your local track - bet you can find a good many 'suspects' there as well - maybe even Dave S in the distant past.
Kyle Busch last year - well that was another storm brewed up over a period of time. Hornaday is NOT a particularly clean driver He an Busch had had several encounters, unfortunately, again, Kyle chose the wrong time for revenge.
Now, IMO, Gordon did what he needed to do but chose the wrong place and time and included too many others in his retaliation - 5-6 cars at $100+K less the engine is over a half million of their hard fought for sponsor's bucks. He needs to mend a few more driver/owner fences besides suffering the NA$CAR $100K fine and points. As far as Bowyer - heck, there have been a few races this year where he has hit about everything but the pace car.
FWIW, I am not a fan of Gordon, Bowyer, either Busch or Hornaday
Well, Jeff Gordon didn't have any problem going after Matt Kenseth last year on pit road after the race and face to face! I'll respect him for that one!!!
Waiting on the track, at a crawl, (which should've drawn a yellow flag and didn't) just to go after another driver and use the car as a weapon. That's to much imho. Other guys have done the bump and run to say they are unhappy about an incident, but, this one was way different. And Gordon has some history of leading with his bumper and ruffling feathers too.... I just felt (then & now) that the incident crossed way over the line of fair play. But welcome to NASCAR! LOL..:rolleyes::LOL:
