thanks barb .. i never had the oportunity to serve . well i could have joined if i wanted to but i did`nt . the vietnam conflict ended just before i got out of school but it did get several of my older brothers . three of them went thru that mess .. at work a few years ago i in a moment of family pride decided to post a brief account of my families military history as i was and still am proud of it`s heritage .. my great great great grandfather Asa Hyatt served in the revolutionary war no less within George Washingtons command as the Hyatts of my mothers family tree were prominant in maryland and other areas in the north .his son Alan Asa Hyatt served during the war of 1812 . one of Alans sons served in the civil war .. Daniel Franklin Hyatt .. my great grandfather .. there were 645 Hyatts to serve in the civil war .227 for the south .. 418 for the north .. most believed to be kin decendants as the original Hyatts to come to america came in the mid 1600`s from england .. my grandfather John Henry Hyatt served in WW1.. after that the history switches over to my father Oscar Moon who served in WW2 in the navy .. he never spoke of his time then . sadly i dont know anything about my Moon family history .. an older brother served in korea ,, then the three in nam i spoke of earlier
