NASCAR Kansas Speedway
Headed out to the Nationwide Race in a bit, taking a son & grandson for their first taste of the event, and lucked into suite passes for today, and also for tomorrow's Cup Race. The new track configuration is "...stupid fast!" according to Tony Stewart, with the increased banking and a new, super smooth, super sticky surface. With the cool temperatures, Cup cars were running yesterday in the 191 range, so qualifying should be interesting...
-
Watched the ARCA race last night, 12 mph faster qualifying speeds then last year on the old surface!!!! Both races should be good, tomorrow with the temperature going up, all the cold weather practice doesn't mean a lot and it's going to come down to which team adjusts to the track the best and the soonest, along with the driver that can adjust his line to take the most advantage of track conditions!!! Definitely going to be a thinking man's race!!!!!
-
So I hit the remote to ESPN to watch the Nationwide pre-race show and see who qualified where.....and there's some dang minor league (aka college) football game on.......bummer.
Then, it takes 45 minutes to play the last 7 minutes of the game and I get to miss all the pre-race and the green flag...Thanks ESPN....

Stenhouse came from two laps down to win the thing...as everyone else was running out of gas!!!! Closed in on Elliot Sadler's points lead with the end of the season looming!!!!!!
-
Yep! I was jumpin' up and down "urging" him on!! ROFL... I was kinda surprised the way Lagano "tapped" him at the end of the race. Lagano later said it was an attaboy or good job... HMmm..
-
Yeah, I heard it but somehow I doubt Joey's sincerity!!!!!!!!
-
I guess Joey and Stenhouse had an earlier "altercation" and Ricky was just getting his "fair due".. ROFL..
-
Yeah, earlier in the race Stenhouse got loose and slammed Logano into the wall, which is how Ricky got two laps down. Think Joey just wanted to tell him that all was not forgotten or forgiven!!! Just a racin' deal, but when that old adrenalin gets to pumping during a race it can certainly effect your emotions, too!!!!! Both of them will probably be laughing about it by tomorrow.....
-
Well, I'm certain Stenhouse will!
-
Yeah, it was quite a finish, first with Menard not being able to re-start on the green/white/checker, and then KB losing power in between turn three and four. After his exploits at Dover, I imagine that KB was blistering the air in his car, but he was smart enough to not key his mike and blast anyone publicly again. Tomorrow should be exciting with another ten to twelve MPH, and even a bit more temperature at race time.
-
Well, when you play the fuel mileage game you can go from hero to zero in a very short time....and vice versa!!!!!
-
Yeah, listening to the teams on their radio's there were several who were saying that they were three to five laps down on their calcs as it got to the 180+ lap point. That last yellow happened at about the worst possible point, putting them running slow laps past their anticipated finish, and then wondering how good their calculations were. Menard's crew chief was telling him to hug the bottom line line as much as he could under the yellow, trying to shorten his lap distance, and he was hugging grass!
-
I'd guess you and the boys had a great time Roger!
