Citation, Really?
Great article Gary. I can hardly believe they screwed up a 302 cobra to only get 139 h.p. out of it! They comparison to a Ford Festiva really hurt! :)
Muscle car? Really? How can you call it a muscle car when there is NO muscle? Who thinks up these comparisons? This is like trying to compare an NFL player to a junior varsity player.
Mike
IIRC '74 Mustang was the worst in all time. No V8 available... I think the author just named some cars and ran with it..
Some nasty stuff there! Make me want to wash out my eyes!
If I had to take one it would be the Gremlin, for it's distinctive styling, and light weight, which would make it a good candidate for an upgrade!
Randall AMC stuck 401's in Gremmies that came with 304's and created lightweight, hard to handle rockets, didn't build many tho.. Because of the short wheelbase, AMC never put anything larger than the 304 V8 in them, but the Hornet which is the same car in a sedan, could get an SC/360 package which included a 360/4V and could even come with a 4 speed right from the factory . Randall AMC and Dick Allen Rambler both built some high performance versions of various AMC's
The Pinto & Mustang II gave us independent front suspension & rack & pinion steering for countless streetrods & pickups.:)
Other than that, they're pretty much _________!!! You can fill in the blank....
Yeah, OK but this article is just totally WRONG! Everyone knows that the Muscle Car Era started in 1964 and was ended in 1972 by the Arab Oil Embargo and Detroit's mass detuning to meet new emissions requirements from that point on. Anything post '72 was badging only, and by the 80's was a total joke. I'm sorry I even opened the file. What a joke and a total waste of time. I cannot believe that someone got paid to pull that so called "article" together.
Should baby been titled " wimpiest muscle car article ever"
The author had no clue as to his subject and utterly embarrassed himself.
The citation could be listed as the sportiest wimpy car ever, but in stock form, cannot be included in the same sentence as muscle.
BTW, already trashed this article on another site, but don't mind trashing it again: pure ignorance in print
