Eastwood Tools

Are these things any good for occasional use by a heavy handed beater?
7 Piece Pro Hammer & Dolly Set - Fiberglass Handles - Eastwood

They don't look like anything I would want to use..... I like my Martin hammers and dollies, some of them are 20+ years old and with an occasional tune up still work great!!!! I've tried the fiberglass hammers, they just don't have the right feel for me, much prefer the hickory handles for balance..... The wrong hammers and dollies will create more body work then they will ever fix!!!!!

I kinda feel about Eastwood as I do about Harbor Freight - they have some good stuff, but, "... if I needed a tool to make my living.." my tendency is to go another route. I've used tool from both places and for my level of expertise on certain projects around the house, they're fine. I'm not a body guy so couldn't tell you like others (I like Dave's comment on fiberglass handles not "feeling right" as that's a huge differentiator in purchasing tools you're going to use a lot) but I tend to use Harbor Freight for "expendable supplies" like rolls of Velcro or zip ties and their China bristle brushes that I buy for fiberglass (or grand kids to paint a birdhouse) knowing full well I'll just throw them away.

I've got Starrett micrometers and precision measurement instruments that are 50+ years old and Klein hand tools that were my fathers and will someday be my sons (and sons-in-laws) - so I guess it depends on how much/how long you're going to use a particular tool and what level of absolute accuracy you're demanding from the too to begin with.

I've got a couple hammers with fiberglass handles and like'em just fine. If you've never done much or any body work then I think you'd never know anything different, nothing to gauge it by.. I wouldn't hesitate to try'em! My two cents.

I think Eastwood is maybe a step or two above Harbor Freight!

Save your money and buy Martin stuff, way better quality, if quality is what your after. If you just want some body tools, by all means buy the Eastwood stuff. I have both, I always grab for the Martin stuff first.
