CHR other half

Just thought it would be nice to include the wives in here. Dose your wife particapate in your hobby or couldn't care less.
Mine is all for my hobby she even has her own car. She is stitching up the interior the way SHE wants it. If I need a hand out in the shop she is always ready to help. I restored a 74 vett once and forgot to put the CORVETTE lettes on the rear. There was no way I could get my hands in there.....Out comes Chris (tinny hands)and about 1/2 hr. later that job was done. She can weld use the tourch and plasma cutter. Sanding ??? She has more patients than I could ever have, and pickey if it aint right. The second picture is HER room into which I don't venture unless asked. I built it just for her and her scrapbooking. Anyway thats my wife If I'd married her first there wouldn't be a second.

Well, one out of three did, at least the driving part!!! She could catch a good light but wouldn't think of turning a wrench or even being in the garage. The other two didn't seem to care either way if there was a Hot Rod around or not long as the money kept rolling in!!!!:LOL::LOL::LOL:

Mine doesn't show the interest in the car hobby that she used to.. She does still enjoy going to the old iron and tractor shows with me and of course, Any time I go antiquing - she'll be there!! LOL..

Good for you, it makes the hobby so much better to have the better half involved. My wife does not build, but has a good eye and her own truck, not afraid to drive the thing either. She is my first and only got married when I was 50 figured I had my fill, she is 10 years my junior.

She Who Must Be Obeyed enjoys it.
She wouldn't know a Corvair from a Kaiser if She saw them...but She knows what She likes, and has a good eye for colours and line/stance.
If we're at a show and She says: "There's a car over there that's just not sitting right," or 'That grille shell is too high/low," and I go and look, She's right on every time.
She enjoys the cruising, the shows, and the social side too.
She enjoys driving as well; but is wary of the Cobra...its got too much power; and She's a bit frightened of it.
She's given me a lot of help with various cars and machines over the years.

We've been married forty-five years...so I think She may be a keeper.

My wife would rather go to a swap meet than a car show. It's great. Won't do any work on her own, only if I need some help.

My wife used to change the oil on her truck, and lend a hand on car projects, now days, she'd rather go antiquing, but when I'm in a pinch, or need a hand she's always there to help!

My late wife would lend hand when needed, pulling a hood and bleeding brakes were her specialty. She loved the 86 diplomat I got for her, an ex cop car. The local constabulary would block the Hiway and drag race her, she never lost. I built the engine with a hotter cam, oversized pistons, and 72" sidepipes . Engine was Mary Kay pink and purple. Transmission was purple, with shift kit and high stall converter. Anyway, it was pretty hot for a diplomat.

I met my wife as a blind date to a hot rod event too many years ago the night after I had wrapped the old '59 Ford around a power pole while under the influence of adult beverages. Although the car was several inches narrower in the middle and both right hand doors were jammed shut,I took her to that event.The next week after work and all day Saturday I fixed the car so that I could take her out again on the Saturday night. What really impressed me was when she offered to come down to the workshop and help sand the car back for a total repaint while I still repaired the accident damage. She didn't know much about cars apart from colours, " I saw a really nice car today cruising town, it was red " when asked what type of car, but I gradually educated her. She was also excellent whenever I needed a hand out in the garage doing anything. Sadly our marriage ended but we remained good friends up to her death in the Christchurch earthquake. Another think I must mention is that she never had her drivers licence until she had left me but wouldn't hesitate to drive me home if I had indulged in too many alcoholic beverages. She finally got her licence after we had split but she phoned me one day to thank me for teaching her how to drive defensibly as when she found herself in a dangerous situation new exactly what to do without thinking and she credited me for teaching her that. She is still missed extremely and not a day goes past without her being in my thoughts.

Well,this is interesting...My first wife was neutral on the hotrods/kustoms,etc..but,after building my Chevy LUV,it was decided that she wasn't going to stick around and watch me build another vehicle...(good excuse anyway).so departed..Several years later,I did a trip to a friends home town,which I hadn't been to before..(New Plymouth),and quite liked the place,car scene,etc,,so I went down again,a month later,,with Nathan(my bud),,and met Lynda at one of his friends house.. Good part was,that she had her own car..55 Customline,and had owned it for several years at that stage..One thing led to another,and we got married the following year..:cool:;)..It does help,having a wife whose understanding to your own interests,,and even better when she wants to help,,even if we do clash a bit..(hey,it's her car,I'm just building it,I get reminded):D:DWe are about to make a new effort on the rebuild on the Cusso,,as we have some cash to put into it..:cool:About 500 hours into it now,,a total body off frame build,with a bit of shaving,modernising,etc..Yes..I keep talking about it,and no one has seen any pix yet..:D We are in the throes of getting what pix we have of it right from the start,up to this point,so,one day very soon,we will start a build thread..okay?? Mine could care less, as long as I enjoy it and don't let it interfere with "us", however, both of her sons are Car Nuts and one even has a '64 MB SL??? that he used to race at La Carrera in Mexico every year and the other has a Motorcycle an does very long road trips all the time. They make up for her non-interest in more ways than one - - - - - AND they love to spin wrenches and talk Rides - - - - Woo Hoo - - - I ain't got no complaints !

Mine likes riding in them, and will help when I ask her to, but other than that, she is perfectly content to stay in her sewing room, or mess around in her backyard garden.
She has driven the Model T ONCE, before the windows were in it, I had just got it running that night for the first time, and she drove it around the block....since then, I have asked her if she wants to drive it, and she always has an excuse as to why she doesn't want to.
That's okay, she's never complained about my old car obsession, or T Roadster bodies in the back yard garden, or (clean) parts in the house.
