Do any of you guys watch this show? I've been watching it because I like to watch any automotive shows I can. I grew up with ot cable and now have it and think it's amazing. :LOL: I'd love to be able to do what these guys do everyday for a job. But it'll have to wait until I retire I suppose. Any of you see it or watch it?
Never heard of it, but will look on the DISH network....
It's on Discovery or History channel. (I think Discovery) It's on at 8 or 9 tonight. I catch the rerun at 11.
I had the DVR set to record it, watched 5-6 episodes. I liked it at first but soon realized it's the typical, 'rush to get the car ready in X number of days before the big auction' type of show and they are always under the gun to finish something. There is the money man, Rich, that doesn't touch a wrench or get his hands dirty unless it's to push a new purchase onto the trailer, his partner, Aaron, that's the 'genuis' car guy along with his couple of helpers that does all the rehab work on the cars. They always mention restoring the car before selling but to them, restoring is throwing a cheap paint job on, a quickie interior redo in one day by a little Asian lady and getting the engine running a little better. Not exactly my idea of a restored car or a good car show, I didn't watch the last recording, I deleted it instead.
Ryan, another one that you might want to check out is South Beach Classics, also on Discovery Channel. In the last episode I saw, the owner and his pretty blond wife were at the Daytona Turkey Run trying to wheel and deal on 8-10 of their cars. Unfortunately it's also 'producer influenced' for what they believe to be better TV.

Ya the last time they let Rich or the money man do something he orderd the wrong size glass all the way around and it cost them a couple of days and over $500 bucks.

My wife and I watched for a few episodes but got turned off when Rich went to an auction and got drunk doing tequilla shots thru his nose. Ruined the show!

Have to agree here with the soapy drama. Just once I want to see one they keep that takes a few episodes to finish before they sell it. Or better yet one they've been looking for them selves that they've always wanted. Now that would be a little different.
LOL shots through the noise, that's a class act there, I'm thinking. It really is a dumb show, not much of a car show. But I will say this it is totally hollywood and the way the world works out there. Soap opera in a complement it would bet lucky to have that tag applied, amateur mess seems to fit.
I would rather dig my eyes out with a dull spoon than watch anything that the "Ass-monkey garage" guys have anything to do with!
I hate the way these type shows portray our hobby to the public. We're not all a bunch of lying, cheating dickheads taking advantage of anybody they can.

Wow, :LOL: I'm glad I didn't say I love this show. :LOL: There a lot of stuff that goes on that I don't agree with, but at least it's a hot rod show and not another dang cooking or reality show I "get" to watch with the wife. :LOL: Most of the auto shows on TV make me mad because they make it look so easy or half ass it. I'd really like to be able to build old cars and sell them for a professional job. But for now that'll have to wait.
And I totally agree, these guys's meaning or "restoration" is altered. It is nice to see Richard losing money on some of those dumb ideas. Like that 68 3/4 ton Ford. He really thought that would bring $6k or more stock? And that white Lincoln? Really, the market isn't that good any where to be thinking those types of cars would bring $10k like he thought. Or am I far off? :LOL:
