Remember this Norman Rockwell painting?

Remember this Norman Rockwell painting? It's probably one of his most famous and possibly in many if not most of the police stations in the US. The gentleman passed away last week - and had been a local resident for many years, even a security officer at GE/Schenectady - and I did recognize him as that too. I got caught by his funeral procession through town a few days ago - probably as many Mass staties there as others and it took a good 5 minutes to pass by:

That is such an iconic painting. Like so many of Rockwell's works it says so much without a word spoken.

Yes I do remember this painting. How ironic to post this during Police Week and on Peace Officer's Memorial Day - May 15th of every year by Act of Congress. Call or email one of your police/sheriff buddies today and let them know they're appreciated!

Sure do remember that one---a reproduction of it hung in my Dad's office for many, many years!!!!!

The interesting part of it locally - few knew he was the model for that Mass. state police figure - which he was at the time. He also did a Rockwell Xmas card for the Mass. troopers. The painting is out at another museum right now, but I have seen that original in the museum that honors him in Stockbridge.

Didn't know that Dave!!!! Not even sure why it was Dad's favorite picture--the only one I ever remember him buying--but he sure did like it! I'm sure it had some sort of special significance to him...
