Okay, so fancy wood products didn't do it for you how about something a little more...........................oh, let's say............rustic?
That rustic category is not limited to storage spaces....

Hmmmm:HMMM:....he could glue on a nice piece of sheet vinyl, maybe in a good solid brick pattern, which would do 2 things....protect that lovely wood-chip lid from some of the elements for a little while and perhaps trick a would-be thief of similar intellect that there's no way he could break into a "brick vault" built into the back of this car!:D
Hey those look like the cat lady's cars around the block from here!
those guys must'a been cabinet makers!:eek::LOL:
Ah..........that working with wood stuff is too hard.................and all that sawdust to clean up........................THIS is much easier!
Easier & faster, yes, but not without it's design flaws if you still want fully functional and secure trunk space. My guess is that this "fix" was performed by a much younger person who is taking baby steps into the "fix-it" world, unlike the seasoned veteran who built his own wood-chip panel deck lid complete with heavy duty gate hinges and the ultra secure padlock from his Samsonite-like suitcase.
On the plus side for the newbie, there is usually plenty of replacement repair material in the dumpster behind the Piggly Wiggly.....just keep that duct tape handy. It also has a multitude of other uses....
Now that's a real fix!!!! No fix is a good fix that doesn't involve duct tape and cardboard!!!!!!
He just needs a few more episodes of RED GREEN!:LOL:
.
OH, you beat me to the RED GREEN comment!
HEY ! he's my hero - - - - only TV personality that I can relate to.
Here's my Avatar from a Handyman Forum

Honey have you seen my mirror???
You'll want to watch your speed with this one
Aha! Charlie must have remembered he got the same email I did!!
Soooooo, duct tape gets some of you moist eh?
Bod this thread is getting better then the 3 word thing. The pictures are hilarious I think the most surprising thing about all of it is that this is exactly what some folks do. I have seen loads of duct tape fixes living in Ga, but the door handle is a new one. LMAO
I'll be taking a break from this for a few days as we head to Cali. My beloved bride is graduating Saturday from her doctoral program at Pepperdine and I'll be away from my wonderful photo files. See ya Tuesday.
Remember, if women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.
Red Green Quote! :)
I love the episode where he ran out of tape.
" Red, hold yourself together"
"WITH WHAT?!"
Duct tape or door handles? Hmmmm, decisions, decisions. Ah let's keep going with door handles.
And then a bonus pic of the bride in procession for the awarding of the degrees.
Congrats to your wife on her doctorate!!! Huge accomplishment for sure!!!
Yes Ditto what Dave said. What an honor. Please pass on our congrats to her as well!
Talk about a cradle robber
Ooooooo!
She's lovely, Uncle Bob!
And she has earned a doctorate?
In that case, congratulations to BOTH of you.
Find an excuse to come to Texas sometime,
Jim
Thanks for all the kind congrats, she deserves every bit of it, she worked hard and earned it. For a guy who barely got out of high school I consider myself very fortunate and am as proud of her as I can be.
Charlie, I thought about mentioning that we had our 25th wedding anniversary three weeks ago..............but from your comment that probably just makes it worse!
Well!
Congratulations Mrs. Parmenter!
Not only from myself, She Who Must Be Obeyed echoes the sentiment.
Bob, I'm sure you're one very proud man.
As someone who left school aged fourteen; I truly admire those who achieve their educational aspirations.
We're both very pleased for you.
Thanks John and Rosie.
One more handle fix to get back on topic.....
I still say you robbed the cradle :LOL:
and took part of it with you**)**)
From the inside back to the outside..............security is important!
That'd sure keep the neighbor kids from opening the door on my old shop truck and stealing my smokes!!!!! Just hope nobody locks it when I'm driving!!!!
Missing the quick release lever! Here's one! :)

Not near as fancy as Bob's but works well
Since duct tape was so popular, let's put the hurt on a big roll of it.............
hows this for a "New tow truck"
How about a little custom body work to style up your ride?
Is that called "Reverse Tubing"?
